I believe he's saying what we'll all eventually be posting on here; Each class is designed for different things. Bards and Black Mages do large amounts of damage in short amounts of time. Black Mages have to recharge MP and must be stationary for optimum DPS and most useful for AoE attacks and dealing damage to large mobs. Bards have other mechanics to worry about that may lower their overall DPS. Monks and Dragoons do very good sustained damage, maybe the best, but Monks are not very good at multiple enemies and must keep up their main buff, Greased Lightning III, by maintaining their combos andrepositioning for best results. Dragoons have a relative simple rotation that uses 2 seperate combos, DoTs and weaving in off-GCD skills to be efficient. Both Melee classes must be nextto the enemy to do there damage, however and lack the general safety of the ranged casters and Bards. Summoners are very powerful over extended stretches. Controlling your Pets, DoT attacks and managing your Aether Flow for max overall damage, Summoners can attack range and manage their MP even after they've applied the damage. In short, what do you need your DPS for? There's one for each situation...
