1.0 and Primals (some 1.0 spoilers I guess?)

I was watching some of the 1.0 cutscenes on Youtube, and was frankly very impressed with the entire scene where Ifrit is talking to the PC. (Actually pretty much every 1.0 cutscene I saw was impressive!) I mean, having never played 1.0, I only know Ifrit as the big evil fire guy who wants to temper everybody. But in the cutscene I saw, he dropped some seriously interesting plot hints and then told the PC to get the heck off his lawn before he roasts 'em.

I found the entire scene very intimidating, and it left me hungering for interaction with the primals besides "yo these guys are super bad for the environment go kick their faces in".

I'd really love to have more interaction with the Primals on a dialogue level rather than just fighting them constantly. Considering that Ramuh's supposed to be not as violent (or at least much more focused on defending his land than expanding it), perhaps we'll get something like that with him. What do you think?

Now that you mention it, I'm kind of surprised with how little we got from Titan and Leviathan on that level. My old rule of thumb used to be, "It's not a primal until it gives a pretentious monologue." Considering Ramuh seems to have been summoned in response to the raising of Castrum Oriens and has been "awake" since then, he should have a lot of interesting things to say from his point of view.

The problem, in many ways, is that the nature of the primals has changed since 1.0. It seems that in 1.0, they had, in the least, a rudimentary personality. In 2.0, the primals are less entity, and more pure emotion. Ifrit is the rage of the Amal'jaa manifest, only barely capable of intelligent conversation before enraging and attacking. Titan is the over protect father the Kobolds have been praying for, who's only concern is defending the Kobolds regardless of the cost. Garuda is as free and as mad as the Ixal who summon her, and Leviathan is a psychopathic monster who's only real goal appears to be to torture and cause as much pain to as many people as he can get his fins on. Ramuh, the only summoned primal we haven't fought yet, is the only one to show restraint, and that's probably because those that summoned him were not overall aggressive to begin with. And he may only seem intelligent because we havn't met him yet, and the Sylph we talk to are giving him too much credit.

Also of note is that the Primals of 2.0 aren't even born with much knowledge. Titan, Garuda, and Leviathan just do their thing. Ifrit, the primal who has the most interaction with you, speaks of what he was told by the Amal'jaa, not of anything he intrinsically knows.

The primals could, in many ways, be viewed as blank slates that the summoners fill when the summon them. Once their fully formed in the world, they go about the business of fulfilling the goals they were summoned for, on the most basic level rather then on any real design.

I'd agree with all the primals except for leviathan. He seems to have some sort of drive or motivation, since he openly killed and absorbed, not to mention decieved the beast man responsible to summoning him, not sure if any of the other primals don't care about their children?

But is that supposed to include his children as well? Of the primals are blank slates created by the hopes of their followers, are the Sahagin just emo suicidal teens?

Sahagins are all pretty cut throat, but the ones who actually summon Leviathan are balls to the wall crazy. The actual summoner cackles with glee as he possess his followers, essentially murdering them so he can continue to live.

Leviathans simply doing exactly what the people who summoned him are doing - continuing his own murderous existence, with no regard for his followers.

If I recall correctly... The sahagins being that way was in response to the lominsans colonizing on Vylbrand/La Noscea, it's a similar situation with the kobolds as well.
    Essentially they're fighting for survival.

I'm fairly certain that Leviathan's goal is to cover the entire world in water, which only makes him appear as a psychotic mess to land dwellers.

He possibly treats the Sahagin as a school of fish that feeds him on a regular basis. A shark swims among fish and for the most part leaves them alone, but if it gets hungry or gets the taste of blood it will randomly devour whatever is nearby.

The Sahagin are somewhat crazy for summoning Leviathan as well. They need tide pools to breed their offspring. If Leviathan ever actually accomplished his goal of drowning the land, they'd be pretty screwed.
