This pretty much sums up exactly what I was about to say. As I like to say, "it's a game, not a job!".

I have plenty of fun partying with all sorts of people, and helping newer players out when I can. The other day I waited like a half hour in a group I joined because they were going to get their lowbie friend up to 16 and through Sats, and that patience payed off. I made some new friends and had a great time! A lot of people, I think, have this mentality that the game is getting tomes and gear, but that's not all the game is. An MMO is the players, and interacting with other players and helping them or facing challenges together is the concept at the heart of every MMO. Far too many people get tunnel vision and get wrapped up in the progression, and I think they lose sight of what really makes an MMO unique from any other kind of game.

This "game", in many ways is more of a chore than anything.

You get a weekly schedule of things to grind that aren't even fun.

If the game feels like a chore to you then why do you play it? I'm not telling you to leave by any means, so don't get me wrong, but personally when I don't like doing something and I'm not getting paid to do it then I find something that I do like to do and I do that instead.

I force myself to cap soldiery over the course of the whole week to keep at least my main geared decently, in hopes that in the future the game will have some things I do like, that simple.

If you don't like the current content and just want to gear your main then you have at least 2 months until you get to see any new content not currently in the game. You have lots of time to get soldiery my friend, don't let the feeling that you need to cap out every week keep you from doing things you actually enjoy doing. They will inevitably make it easier to get soldiery or even better gear when new content is released anyways. Full soldiery is not best in slot anyways, get the pieces you require and then work on turn 6+ where the content is more challenging and less monotonous. I can see where you're coming from with the soldiery cap but we had the same mentality with myth until 2.2 and look how that went.

The game itself is more than just the grind though, don't you think? Its true that if this game was only grinding the same dungeons over and over again it would get very tedious (and in fact, sometimes it does), but what makes an MMO more than just the grind is the people. It's who you group with, and how you play with them that makes this more than just a grindfest. For example, if you're bored with the grind, why not try something silly like fighting Hard or Extreme Modes with snowman heads? Try runs with Titan-Egi tanking or just wander around the areas and be confident that nothing will so much as look at your level 50 the wrong way.

If you've cleared all the content, then help other players get to your level, and so on and so forth. The traditional idea of "Endgame" isn't the only way to enjoy having a high level character.

I applaud you people that can make fun out of nothing, but the majority of people aren't like that.

Please refrain from pushing your negativity onto "the majority of people". You'd be surprised how many people are capable of an amazing feat called "having fun".

Only because you chose to make it so.
