Epilogue:I got one better.
-Doing HM Ifrit as scholar for my 4th relic.
-Other healer is a whitemage, that casted regen on the tank right as Ifrit noticed him, but before he grabbed aggro.
-As soon as Ifrit charges at him, he panics and casts medica 2 in reponse with Ifrit breathing fire(though only the tank was hit by it). He keeps spamming cures btw.
-before the tank is finally able to rip hate off the WHM, two DDs get MPK'd thanks to this guy.
-I checked his player stats, saw that he's brand new, and offered him advice and I told him that he shouldn't regen before pulls.
-"F**k you, eat a D**k" is the response I get.
Some people shouldn't be allowed to interact with others, even if it's not face to face.
- Goes to forum complaining about elitist
- thread fills with circle jerkers and sympathizers
- thread gets buried, rinse and repeat.
And this particular scenario has nothing to do with elitism as some people mentioned in this thread. They don't even accept a constructive criticism, they will always feel they're under attack. I think they're all afraid all the way, and if people call them out or give them advice (implying that they're doing something wrong... how dare they...) they explode.
I remember when I was doing WP back then. I pulled the first pack of skellies back where the Wanderer cannot reach us. There was a summoner and I asked him to bring his Garuda-Egi with him, because it might be pulling the Wanderer. Ok, he didn't listen. The Wanderer saw us and started to attack the group while I was still tanking. We ran away and told the Summoner "Lol, that Garuda needs some extra training" Obviously as a joke, his answer was "You need training, noob". I just laughed because there was no point to start a discussion with him, about an issue that didn't matter anymore.

Reputation and community don't play as vital a role in this game as some previous MMO's. Some people feel they are given free reign to act like **** because things aren't being done the way they feel it should be done.
I just report people who start name calling and show just utter disrespect.
One time I was in Grid saying "I wish people wouldn't undercut so much on the markets..." And got a response from someone calling me a communist because I don't like "free markets" or something. Like really? Without even saying anything I just reported him because that's the only way anyone ever seems to learn apparently.
And then this other time in Haukke Manor HM...had a tank that was being a complete jerk (I forget why) so he stood still until we would kick him. We were on the last boss. Oh I remember now. We got to the last boss and for some reason he thought we couldn't beat it...and my friend and I have been in there multiple times...I was drg and he was mnk...we were both i90... I was like "Dude...we're fine...just go"
So he goes, and then right before Lady A (the fourth add) came up he used the tank lb2 and I was like "Are you serious?!" and then we wiped because we didn't get her down in time and then he said "See we couldn't beat her. I used the tank lb because your lb wasn't going to be good enough" So he stood at the entrance for about 15 minutes. We finally vote kicked him, and because this was late at night and nobody was looking to do Haukke Manor HM... he jumped back into your party almost immediately.......and came down and tried the fight again, except this time he did not cooperate and just stood in a corner and we died again. We vote kicked him again. He re-entered the Duty.....again.....and stood in the entrance of the dungeon and said "Haha, sorry (N -word)s that sucks. Looks like you guys have to leave because I'm not."
Down to our last vote kick now....I set a friend of mine in my linkshell to be ready to join in progress....and we timed it so once we vote kicked this guy for the last time, my friend immediately got in. And we finally finished the damn boss. We wasted about 40 minutes dealing with this guy. It was unbelievable. We got out and all reported him. I think he was on the same server as us too.
But basically, that's probably my worst experience with anyone in this game, ever. Square doesn't take lightly to any kind of harassment...so when someone harasses you, report them! Don't just blist them. Hit them where it really hurts and report them.

This was the trade-off with duty finder.
you wont have to /shout or anything for pt within own server as much..but you get asshats
all over server never see em again and they roam free. price u have to pay, now we got a horrible asshole community,
people suffering heart attacks and conniptions.
also this:
yesterday i had a whm who continually spammed c2 while the tank was at near full health. when i asked him if he was new he said no, when i asked him why he was spamming c2 and over healing like crazy he said "if you dont like how i heal you can leave"
pro tip: healers/tanks cant handle when lowly dps give them advice
I don't understand why everyone seems to be in such a hurry when playing a game. A wipe in a dungeon is what? 5-10 minutes more than what it would have taken? It's not a big deal.
I don't mind if we wipe. We'll do it again and hopefully we'll have learnt by our mistakes, if not... we'll try again. I had the most fun in parties where we wiped, were able to laugh about it and cheer us to do better next time. I'd rather a dungeon take more time if it means having more fun. Flawless runs where nobody talks are so forgettable.
It is unfortunate but there is an over abundance of people these days that lack empathy. A sad commentary on the state of our society.
It's the convenience. There's no process involved in getting a DF party, you just hit a button and queue. You don't know anyone else in it, and you aren't obligated to get to know them, and people want their stuff done as quickly as possible. The playerbase for MMOs in general is different, now...it's all very selfish and entitled. That goes for both sides of the fence, really.
Things like Duty Finder are incredibly convenient to players in general, but they're also horribly toxic to the community as a whole. Sometimes I wonder if that convenience is worth it.
Sad state of our society. People will act like complete jackasses and treat others like **** if there are no consequences for doing so.
