I think we need to put Camate's post on every single page of this thread. Not sure why people think it's O.K to join parties with loot rules then break them/steal loot in the first place...but anyway...

We've received a lot of requests to make it possible to pass after you've already lotted on an item, but due to the current system as well as prospects for the future we do not have any plans to implement this at the moment.

Also, while this isn't limited to only the topic at hand, it's extremely difficult to prevent human error by creating perfect rules within the game system as it becomes something that forces players to go through a cumbersome process. (Such as going through multiple confirmation windows.)

Naturally we will continue to make changes to the system for improvements, but ultimately we feel that there are situations where we would like you to decide on the rules amongst yourselves. Before entering a duty, make sure that all party members are informed of the agreement and who is able to lot on which item. All party members should agree to those terms before entering to ensure an agreement is clearly understood.

Breaking these agreements, or behavior that imposes on other players' enjoyment of the game, will not be tolerated. If after an investigation it's confirmed that a player clearly understood the rules when joining a group and still acted in such a manner, proper action will be taken against the player, which may include confiscation of the item or account suspension, so please avoid doing anything like this.

I like that. I actually set up greed parties but I don't lock-out items on a single person. Instead, I tell them that if that item is requested TWICE, it gets locked. So you have competition and there'll be more people interested on joining my group. The advantage of a greed party, is that you can join with your best job if the slot is available or any job. I always make a list with a macro. When the fight is over, I pop said list to check if someone was interested on that item. I ask the others to leave so only the people who requested that item can roll on them. I just don't like ninja looters. Rules are clear ALWAYS. You don't like them? Don't join.

People who join parties, agree not to greed on specific parts, then greed anyway = douchebags, blacklist them all you want. I hope a meteor falls on their PC.

People who lock gear = ...just don't join their parties...

I keep seeing people mention that everyone deserves a "fair shot" at the locked gear. I'm confused. How is the system not fair? They announce ahead of time that the first drop of an item is reserved for them. They organized the party, set tactics, and lead the run. By joining the party you are agreeing to follow their direction and respect the rules they set up front. That means that you respect their right to lock that piece of gear. If you want a "fair shot" at that piece of gear: solo queue in DF. Alternatively, and here's a novel concept, you can make your own PF group and lock the gear you want for yourself. Hell, you can set the rules up front however you want. Once again, if you don't like the rules don't join. Just quit crying about how "unfair" it is. No one is really listening and nobody really cares.

Only thing that annoys me about lock parties is when they lock the job no one is playing. I've seen a couple t2 lock tank legs while the only tank slot was open. Seen it with healer pieces as well and no healers in the PF.

I once joined a Mog ex party as a tank. They had a tank slot open and they seemed to be waiting all night I noticed.
So I join up, and my bad I didn't read everything. They ask what I want. I say Ribbon of Fending. They mentioned it's locked.
I apologize to them for not reading and tell them I'll take my leave, since I didn't want anything else. Literally everyone was ragging on the party leader for locking it when we need a tank so badly. But he didn't wanna budge, and I left. That was that.

Hope they got someone else in the end.
