So exactly what are all these people doing at Revenants Toll ??

I understand its the endgame area, and there is the vendor for higher end gear. But why is everyone just littered all throughout the main square. People perched on top of buildings... everywhere.. Like a block party.

I go there.. get my stuff and go on to my next adventure..

Not criticizing.. I genuinely have no idea what everyone is doing there

Is there some fun I'm missing out on ?

Not everyone uses Duty Finder/Party Finder. Some people still form shout groups and it's the high level area to hang out so people park there looking for a shout that is relevant to their interests. It could just be an old habit, also if you are going to wait in the zone for shouts you might as well accumulate some rested bonus inside the camp

Simply put, it's easier to idle there, as you have the vendors for myth and soldiery tomes there, plus the Rising Stones is located there too - meaning it's a convenient spot to congregate. It's no different to 1.0 or even FFXI where players would tend to gather in one specific city (in 1.0 it was Ul'dah, and in FFXI it was usually either Jeuno or Aht Urhgan Whitegate, the later being nicknamed 'Laggate' for the resulting lag caused by too many players idling in the one spot ).

Habit, mostly, used to be where everyone would shout for parties for end game stuff, now people use the PF most of the time.

For me personally I just really like the area. It feels so alive and I love that it changes with each patch. There's no overarching reason to hang out there, aside from maybe buying things with tomes without having to teleport back constantly.

Wow I didn't think people still used shout to gather. I haven't been looking for shouts in a long time. But that really comes from another issue entirely. Sense we had issues with RMT using shout all the time. I moved it to a tab I never see, and when PF came out, I was glad I never had to use shout lol.

OT I know some people AFK out there to get their Zodiac books. I only go there to get soldiery gear and Zodiac books. And occasional storyline stuff, and Zodiac tasks.

    Every MMO has a main-hub.

    WoW:-

    Vanilla : Orgrimmar/Stormwind
    Burning Crusade : (I can't remember I don't think it changed)
Wrath of the Lich King: Dalaran
    Cataclysm: Orgrimmar/Stormwind

    GW2:-

    Launch: Lion's Arch
(No idea what it's changed to now after Scarlet invaded and lay waste to Lion's Arch, sorry~)

    FFXI:-

    Ere'thing else: Jeuno
    Adoulin : Adoulin

    FFXIV:-

    1.0 > 1.23 : Ul'dah
2.0 > 2.2 : Mor Dhona (Although Limsa Lominsa is always very crowded due to its convenience)

PoK in EQ1 used to be insane before they introduced guild housing. The entire server used it as "home base" and hung around it for ages looking for groups, HP buffs, and to use the bank.

The Burning Crusade was Shattrath, due to the portals to every capital. You may have just repressed the hordes of sparring Draenei. CLANK! CLANG! BWA-HAHAHAHAHA! CLANG!

Not really relevant to the thread itself, but on my server in WoW, Ironforge was the main hub for alliance pre BC. (nicknamed Lagforge)
For BC on all servers it was Shattrath.
