Did I choose the wrong server?

Hi guys, I just started playing few days ago, I'm in Tonberry server, however there's hardly anyone and barely anyone talking using shout or chats(Its so quiet!), I joined a FC over 300 members but they doesn't talk much either, before I play I did my research, almost all saying that Tonberry is the Asia English-populated server, so did I choose wrong or is there a more active server? Any answers would be really appreciated.

There is no doubt that Tonberry is the unofficial oceanic server, it's just that most people doesn't "chat" on global/shout/yell as it can be viewed as spam and inconveniencing other players.

Largely dependent on which FC you joined thou, and any active LS that you joined. My previous FC (Mirai) had a few hundred members and the FC chat are generally active. Currently I tend to have more conversations within LS instead - it really depends. Consider joining a couple of LS to make more friends if you like socializing.

However, most people log in to actually play than chit chatting. The Second Coil of Bahamut is still relatively new and thus most people are spending time on progression, got to take that into mind too.

And regarding your quiet FC, do they have a voice chat?

I'm on Tonberry as well. The numbers depend on what times you're logging on. Most people who use the server are between +8:00 and +10:00 GMT. The peak hours for these players monday - friday are between 7PM and 12AM.

A big Free Company does not make it a lively one. It's for this reason I haven't joined any FCs yet. When I am in an FC I want it to be exactly what me and players like me want and need, which is a good social environment, casual to dedicated gameplay with an eagerness to help new players become seasoned players.

The global/shout chats are mostly silent outside of occasional FC spruiking because using them for anything else is generally considered rude.

If your ping is best on a JP server and you do not speak japanese, Tonberry is the best server for you. Feel free to look me up in-world any time. I am often traversing Eorzea with my resident healer and we're currently both heading toward Level 50!
