    Question on server latency

I currently play on Malboro (NA) and seem to (i dont know if i truly am) have a fairly consistent lag, about .5 to 1.5 seconds. This normally wouldnt be a problem, but on some of the bigger aoe's I am noticing it still hitting me well after i am out of the ground marker. Now i dont know if the "receiving" part of the latency indicator is what my actually latency is, but it ranges from 300 to 1800 at times (mostly sitting up in the 1500's). Would changing servers help? Or am I just doomed to live life 1 second behind everyone else?

300 to 1800 sounds wrong O.o are you sure you're not looking at packets sent/recieved in which case thats just the amount not the latency. you can ping the server to find out your latency but you only have NA and JP servers to choose from since EU is also in NA -.-

about half a second lag time is fairly normal. You realy need to move out as soon as teh ground marker appears even if it means cancelling whatever you're casting. for some dungeons/trials you will also be able to spot a pattern in where the AoE will land and pre-emptively dodge it too.

lag has gotten worse since about a month n a half ago. Not entirely sure why or how :/ hope SE upgrades servers soon.

u can check your latency by opening wondows task manager. then click resource monitor. then click network and under tcp connections it should say ffxiv with the latency in ms next to it

the recieve and send u see in game is just telling u how much bytes game is sending over internet it doesnt say latency so u gotta check how i said above
