What's there to spend gil on?

What is it that the gil spammers know that we don't?

Why are people buying gil from these gil spammers? What are they using the gil for?

The only thing to spend mass money on is housing.
Besides that you can spend money on things for coil like:
HQ food
HQ potent poison potion
HQ X-stat-potion

Meld them to make 3 STAR items. Breaks bank.

What are you talking about 'adventurers don't have much to spend gil on'? Even now some of the best gear is crafted (be it iL70 accessories or iL90 armor, though it's subjective to the class/Job in question). That's alot of gil right there, be it buying it outright off the marketplace or getting the materials individually. Then there's the requisite melding to bring said gear up to that ideal state. And assuming you don't have your hunt logs completed, repairs can sometimes be painful. Especially after a run that suffered a couple wipes. I'm still trying to budget my way through getting some crafted gear and melding it... so much gil. T,T

Pretty much just Mercing stuff. Housing is pretty pointless atm...

Using gill to buy every wearable armor to see if I like any of it.
Then glamour a different set. And dye if need be. Then get tired of it and glamour a new one.
Pretty much all I spend my gill on.
No idea how gill spammers make any money in this game.

Specific materia that everyone wants can be very expensive on the market board. Mounts and minions from tribe npc are 120k and 70k each. Vanity gear like spring dress costs a lot because they are 3-star craft not everyone can make. If I went to buy everything that looks good, I would not have enough gil, I think there is a lot of things to spend gil on, it just depends on the person what value you think these items have.
