What's there to spend gil on?

Title. What is there to spend Gil on? I'm bored lately so I figured I'd actually try and make some money and after a little bit of farming and playing with the markets i have 360k.

I know it's not a lot compared to some players but I figure if i keep doing that I'm doing I can top a mil or two within the next weekish. My only problem though is IDK what there is to actually spend my money on. I can farm myself the 2nd best set without spending anything more than time, and the best sets drop out of raids and are untradable so I can't buy gear, I don't craft, there's no enchantment or upgrade system to drain my bank, I can pay for any gear repair doing a speed run of brayflox, and I don't craft or Materia. So unless I decide to buy some glamour armor or something I'm too lazy to farm for myself I don't really spend any money actively playing and instead make some doing almost anything.

The only thing I think might make me spend money would be personal housing, but depending on how the room in your FC house works and whether there's anything that actually interests me that's housing exclusive I'm not sure I'll even buy one. That said though even if I do want one I'm not sure I'll ever be able to buy one if they do something like they did with FC housing prices since the servers are apparently terrible.

So yeah is there anything besides maybe housing and random impulse/laziness buys to spend Gil on or am I pretty much good just playing and letting Gil just trickle in?

Yep I pretty much think the same thing. Ever since I caped all jobs at 50, and started progressing with end game. The only thing that I bought was a shield, and the base weapon to start the relic quest. That's something definatly to spend gil on. All jobs have there own starting weapon for that quest, and they cost a lot. Its a weapon + 2 meteria's. Other than that though, I don't buy anything from the market boards anymore.

Heck only thing I sell on the market boards, is the item I get sometimes from a low level roulette dungeon. For some reason the low level dungeons have armor/weapons that you can actually sell, but everything lvl 50+ you can't sell anything that drops in dungeons. Doesn't make much since to me, but oh well.

Some of the more expensive things you can spend gil on in game:
    - Housing (Free Company, now, personal later on)
    - Materia Melding (Overmelds can be crazy expensive)
    - Expensive glamour gear and minions
    - Mercenary services (hire a Free Company to win instances for you for loot)

For the most part, Gil has very little use in game for adventurer classes. Teleports. Food (optional). All the stuff you need for your adventuring character comes from drops which you can't buy.

DoH classes, though, are a different story. The cost of gearing those jobs is very high, mainly due to the insane amount of materia over-melds that you need to equip your character - and you will need to do it on multiple jobs in order to get the cross class skills you need. DoL jobs are the same but not quite as bad (and there are only 3 of those, compared to 8 of the DoH).

Other than that, gil is spent on vanity. Glamour. Minions (especially minions - any rare minion will set you back 400K'ish).

I'm sitting on a healthy bank roll building up funds for future personal housing.

Crafted gears. Some pieces are worth the money. I bought the Saurian Boots of Striking for my monk to meld Accuracy and get rid of Skill Speed and never looked back. Not saying that's the only piece worth the money but that's what works best for my build.

If you care about collecting minions, some of those can be bought for a pretty penny. But back to one of your original points, almost all of those can be farmed if you want to spend the time and hope RNG is on your side.

The few, new 3star crafted minions have some ridiculous material requirements atm. They both need the super rare gardening materials, and even if your server has them for sale it's likely you wouldn't spend what it being asked for them. The Magic Broom is up on my server right now for about 4 million.

Our FC saved money for housing, and got it. Now we are in the midst of furnishing it. Once we have the rest of the Haukke Manor instruments and the Protection Module (the Purification Module is AWESOME!) we will most likely be done furnishing until new stuff comes out. Getting the rest of the minions I don't have is the only thing I can see myself spending money on, unless I decide to gear another crafter.

I'll be saving my bankroll for the casino
