I do believe that the amount of noticeable copy/pasting is noticeable.. but for one thing I am glad that everything looks beautiful turned up high. If reskinning was an option I would definately vote for it, but I personally don't think it is feasible.

then put your money where yoyr mouth is.
What is your suggestion to "fix" is. I've been reading up this game since before beta and seen beta leaked vid, it never came up. If it was an issue someone would have shown ppl HOW it looks copy and pasted not " what the ####, what is up wuth these ##### area. They sare so ##### boring." aks the justin.tv tirared in a nutshell.

I'm a long time gamer and I do notice bad games and such stuff. Not so sound odd but all I do is play games in my free time. Where I live is a empty town. And tv is boring. I played a game called two worlds. That game all around was bad. And the only game I've play that was really bad.

I'm a big mmo gamer also. I've play Aion which has more copy and pasting then ffxiv does, if you look at it. Yet no one made mention of it. DCUO is also got worst copy and pasting. Yet no one complains.

So a game with not as much copy and pasting as either of those two games. Yet thats ALL ppl complain about.

I think it was a really bad thing they they are not going to be able to fix entirely without a lot of effort.

But a pretty decent bandaid would just be adding stuff... you can probably shoehorn more hamlets in there. There's a couple of shrine/temple things littered around coerthas, maybe give those a little more decoration, tell a story with the terrain.

The mini map means that I don't take much notice of the scenery. That's a shame.

We should either have to quest a map or open it up as we discover new areas. That way we might take more notice of our surroundings.

I think there needs to be huge changes to the environment as you near the next zone. Moving from a forest to the grand canyon in one load screen just seems stupid.

I'd love to hear direct from the dev team to see if it's actually possible to make these changes, otherwise there's not much point talking about it?

Finding your way through the map is like a priest finding a way into a boys woohoo parts. It's not fun because you cant use anything else at the moment.

Change it and we ill be happy to go to the woohoo area.

Copy/paste is common in all games to some degree, its how its disguised that counts. I'd like to see either more small zones with more variety like FFXI or better yet stick with the "seemless" zone changes but make them really seemless and add some variation and some destinations! I've only played a couple of mmos, but I can say that LOTRO has epic zones which for the most part are truely seemless (except entering buildings which have two doors with a portal behind the first lol).

In LOTRO you can wander around for hours crossing back and forward through a myriad of environmentally distinct areas (grasslands, forest, desert, snowy mountains, lakes, swamps, towns, villages, caves etc...) doing quests, collecting stuff, killing stuff, just walking, and never hit a black screen or a zone. I'm not saying there are no zones in LOTRO cause there are, they are just few and far between and the stuff in the middle is awesome. There are reasons to go places; quests in towns or in the wilderness, inn's halfway between cities, villages that offer something that main towns don't, a certain place in the middle of nowhere is great for collecting a certain material, monsters at a particular level, game lore/storyline information etc, etc, etc... In terms of environment, best game I've ever played. Not so much with the social side of things though, FFXI was and at this rate, will be, the best all round mmo/game I've ever played.

Turbine did a brilliant job on the environment in LOTRO and I think that Square did a great job on FFXI. The FFXIV environment is lacking seriously in everything I ranted on about above and its plain disappointing and boring. It was cool for the first few weeks then it just feels like PVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Sorry Square this is ment to be constructive critisism. Can we please have much more visual variation in each zone and possibly a bit less copy/paste or a bit better hidden? destinations outside of cities would be nice to (i.e. Selbina in FFXI was a destination because you got subjob there or went to dunes to level after 10 or to catch ferry). As a "next gen" mmo its not much to ask, Thank you.

I remember the first time I stepped out into La Noscea and checked my map, I was completely in awe of its size. But that feeling quickly subsided when I realised that there really wasn't anything to see, and what is there doesn't seem to have any real rhyme or reason to it, and I think that's the point.

For example, there's a bunch of bridges in the north western section of La Noscea – I forget the camp name – but there are no towns or people, so I can't help but think to myself, "Oh, that's pretty...but why would the people of La Noscea go to the trouble of building bridges here?"

It comes across like the devs were interested first and foremost with making the zones as gigantic as possible, with notions of how they were to fill the space an afterthought, and I don't think that's a good design philosophy when creating a game world.

I also remember being sorely disappointed when I zoned into the Twelveswood from Thanalan; not because there was a zone, but because in the blink of an eye I had went from parched desert wasteland to a verdant, lush forest. It does come across as kind of lazy. :\

Anyhoo~ I'm all for smaller zones and more variety; one of the things I liked the most about XI is the way levelling slowly took you across a varied and interesting world in a logical manner.

This new team seem to get it, though, so I'm confident that any new zones will be both interesting and well thought out. (*'-')b
