I think it ruins the game. Not just the copy-pasted feature but the fact that the zones are huge and everything is so packed together. You can run from one end of the world to the other and only see three zones. The little towns are worthless. There's just no lore, interesting landmarks, or anything that makes me interested in Eorzea. Only ONCE did I go "whoah what's that about?" and it was when I saw the crashed airship in Mor Dhona as opposed to saying that in nearly every single zone in XI.

The terrain needs landmarks and such and I would no complaints.

Copy paste is not game breaking to me, would like it better if it was not here but I can deal with it.

I agree with what some others have said already, it does not bother me. They could add some more landmarks to the areas.

ask those jp who are complaing if they every played ffxi and been to the 2 kazam jungles... by what you guys are saying those are copy and pasted.
Like I said I need picks to really see. I've seen vids and I don't see it.

I see a ffxi like world that is huge. (i like huge worlds like elder scrolls) With seemless maping, which i like. Sorry I got stuck too many times in loading screens, and had death by loading screens happen in ffxi. It gets annoying.
Smaller is never better. Play DCUO to see why. I'm bored of that game after a week. The cities are tiny it feels like a single player game. each lay out of each city and each dungeon and ever safe house is the same for each set. So far each city in ffxiv has a different lay out same for every zone. If all you guys talking are textures then you guys are too bored. Every game does copy and paste that. Its saves time and loading.

FFXI = Large world, many zones, minimal copy paste.

FFXIV = Small world, 5 zones, massive copy paste.

I'll deal with an 8 second loading screen if it means I can run from one city to the other and go through more than two zones.

    You, my friends, lack eyes.

... And about the "large world, many zones", you obviously didn't play FFXI at launch.

I started FFXI in January 2004. That was 7 years ago. It still had a MUCH richer world than FFXIV does now in 2011. You can bash FFXI's JP launch all you want but it won't excuse XIV's current ass design.

Only those of us that didn't play FFXI at launch, or that have their eyes and memories completely clouded by nostalgia.

This forum didn't take long to lose every little hint of realism.
"The game lacks content and needs a lot of urgent work in several areas, and every single bit of development resources is dedicated to that. LET'S REDESIGN THE WHOLE WORLD!"

    Seriously, reality check here?

You played at Japanese launch? i played at ps2 launch and continued for 5 years. I noticed some copy/paste in ffxi but was never disappointed with it because of the incredible environment that ffxiv lacks
