    Maat's Item Level Cap Quest

For those of you who do not know who Maat is, I will give you a brief summary.

Maat is an elderly NPC from FFXI who resides in Ru'Lude Gardens in the City if Jeuno.
His sole purpose was to limit your level cap, starting at 50 and then every 5 levels afterwards. In order to break this cap, you would have to fight him in a solo fight.
Winning granted you a higher level cap, 50 to 55, and so on.

    FFXIV Version.

Enter stage right, Momodi of The Quicksand.
As a new player who starts their adventuring in Ul'dah you will come across this sharp tongued Lalafell who will no doubt help you on your path to greatness. Once you reach level 50, you will be given several choices of gear. Starting from item level 50.

Currently, the items go all the way up to item level 115. At this point in the game, any player could potentially farm for higher item level gear for their subjobs and never have to farm WP/AK for Darklight or anything less than the best. This makes running old content obsolete.

My conclusion is that, perhaps players should have to perform a solo task to break their item level cap, (starting at ilvl 50) per class. So that they may wear better gear. This keeps players from farming the best gear and putting it on their fresh faced level 50 class.

The quests could be three fold, requiring you to run every level 50 dungeon (item level 50-55 req) for the first cap and so on for the next ones. Then doing a solo fight with Momodi or her chosen champion (as homage to FFXI's Maat fight) Winning this fight would net you an increased cap on your ilvl and maybe even vanity of sorts. (Maat's Cap?)

TL;DR - Implement a system of quests that are required before players can wear higher item level gear.

Maybe the idea would have been better sounding if it didn't seem like a last minute retroactive lockout. If it were implemented previously then no complaints but now since people are playing with alts and such, it seems like a hurdle to throw in while everyone is already running the steeple chase.

It's not intended as a lockout, just a way to keep old content alive, seeing as new classes are coming, I don't see many players even bothering to gear them up with darklight. since they can spam farm 1-5 for significantly better gear. Or buy myth.

Technically, you only ever had to fight him once. which was to get level 75 unlocked. Otherwise it was fetch quests. Anyway, I'm not really sure I'd want to see anything akin to Maat again tbh, at least, not for a level cap quest. It would be cool to get a bad-ass Old Man Adventuring trainer guy or something similar to maat, but... I don't wanna see a level cap *quest* per se, be it for character or item levels.

(Louisoix almost kinda fills that roll, but not quite, and I prolly misspelled his name all to hell ><) Anyway, item level cap just seems arbitrary to me, in all honesty, I just replied in another thread, similar to this topic. They need to make Darklight gear/i70 gear have a higher drop rate in the expert dungeons, and maybe give new quests for the old areas, Amdapor Keep for example, it'll always have relevance, especially if new players (or alts) wanna get Relic weapons, considering you HAVE to do AK for the relic quest line.

I'm not really sure what they could do for WP though. I kinda like the idea though of a questlike system that you were going with about how you'd have to do all the lower tier dungeons for the "Cap" but instead of it being an item level lock out, why not a dungeon lock out?

for example, you'd have to do all the i50-55 dungeons in order to properly unlock the i60-70 ones, something like that. Main scenario dungeons aside. Iunno, I'm not a game designer so I can't really say. Personally though, I wouldn't really worry about it

So what your saying is, each class would have to clear every dungeon going up? I like that idea.. but what I want to fix is; I see too many players wearing allagan with almost no skill level for that class, purely because they got the items during a run on a different class. How do you prevent players wearing gear that doesn't equate to their skill level? (I.E putting on a bunch if high Item level gear so they can go into DF with me)

Before I get the axe, I am not talking about players who are inexperenced who haven't done this before. Clearly I am speaking of people who have cleared it as one class, but have leveled multiple classes to 50 with little or no real knowledge of their class, and since they farmed the best gear on their "mains" they can roll up in the best gear on their secondary classes and yet fail to perform.
