Or how about they just let you dismount and mount whenever you want instead of trying to control and funnel every aspect of your life.Well, I don't know if this answers the question... but why not create an inside version or something of the Chocobo Stables found in each city. They all usually have a blocked off door or something behind them.
Why not have the option, when you reach the entrance point that crosses into each city to be able to select Dismount or Enter Stables to interact with other players Chocobos, which would ALSO pave the way as a future area for breeding, raising, and feeding of Chocobos and other Chocobo raising players, similar to FF XI's stables.

That would be pretty cool, I would actually prefer that, especially on mining leves or when delivering local leves or something.
But for them, they may not make things THAT easy for us, at first. You know how they tend to operate. Albeit, a good idea you've brought up, it doesn't really add to the idea of an instanced Chocobo Stable that I brought up, or the main topic of bringing the Chocobo into each city state. Elaborate on your idea a bit, I would like to hear more.
To be honest, I wouldn't mind having players walking their Chocobos in the city, as long as they stay on the main road. It would be kinda silly having them all fit through the door to the Adventurer's Guild. They'd all look like a box of Kentucky Fried Chocobo crammed inside there. LOL
But I can imagine players riding them throughout the main streets of Ul'dah and the main pathways of Gridania, and even the main, paved road of Limsa. Certain areas should be exlcusive to 5 main 5 races though, due to size and congestion issues.
Having your (personal) Chocobo, at a later date, would be neat to serve as both a portable retainer out in the field and should allow you to dismount and remount freely, as many times as you want when out exploring.
EDIT: Sorry about the above reply! I made a double post by accident!![]()
