For people who can't read Italian:So, apparently the theme for the 2nd half of the ShB final boss "Invincible" has actual lyrics instead of using some sort of voice synth. Who knew?
From dev blog:
Invincible
Lasciate
Ogne speranza
These memories ache with the weight of fate
Ever we fight
Never we fly
Ever we fall
Forever we fall
Now breathe deep of the darkness beneath the flood
Where all of the proud angels drink to their deeds of blood
Their lies, twisted and torn, into dreams they're spun
Yet ever we still stand tall
Invincible
Never we fall
Lasciate Ogne Speranza: Abandon Hope Ye Who Enter

I wonder why they chose Italian. As mentioned before, (old) greek would've made more sense, and beyond that, Final Fantasy likes to work with latin. Italian seems just so... disconnected from the trial.
I'm taking Lore way too seriously. And I'm not sorry about that.
Maybe they were deliberately going for the Dante reference. "Lasciate ogni sperenza" is directly lifted from Inferno, after all.
My guess is because the full quote of Lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch'entrate is a quote from the Divine Comedy. Which we pretty much know here as Dante's Inferno though it's more then just that.
It actually makes a CRAPTON of sense since the poem is about the journey to the afterlife; between Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise. All themes that relate pretty well with the Ascians and especially Emet Selch.
Editing it being an ass and not letting me change my stuff proper so sorry for the confusion.

It would also be yet another reference to classical literature that the final zone/dungeon is filled to the brim of (the final area for Shadowbringers called 'the Tempest' and an area in that region called 'Caliban Gorge' along the whole scenario behind the downfall of Amaurotian/pre-Sundering society was just one big reference to Shakespeare's The Tempest - players may be more familar with it's 1950s scifi remake 'the Forbidden Planet' though; the name of Amaurot and it's areas (hells, everything about Amaurotian society) is taken from the capital city in Thomas Moore's famous tome Utopia, etc), so this is yet another reference.
It's what happens when you have a well-read literature buff on the development team.![]()
Italian now is it? And poor old me and my ringing ears were thinking it was sung in distorted Latin like final boss themes usually are.
The blog post specifies the in game song has pseudo-lyrics (just as usual final boss songs do like Worm's Tail, Heroes and Ultima). The lyrics were composed and used at the Live Orchestration similar to how other songs also have gained their own lyrics previously.
Does anyone know the lyrics for "The Sound Of The End" from The Copied Factory raid!?.
The one on the Internet doesn't seem to match!.
I'd like all the lyrics from NieR:Automata in this game!.
None of the music from the Yoko Taro games has any lyrics in the traditional sense except for the Ending Credits songs. The "lyrics" you are hearing is a conglang (constructed language) created by Emi Evans, one of the main vocalists for the songs. It's often called Chaos Language and has no meaning whatsoever. Instead, it suggests feelings, emotions and ambiance in the music tracks. It also neatly gets around the problem of having to make different lyrics for the Japanese and English versions and cuts out translating between the two.
The music in NieR: Automana that does have lyrics is Weight of the World, the song that plays in the credits. The English lyrics are written from 2B's perspective, while the Japanese lyrics are written from 9S's perspective. There's also a third version of Weight of the World called the "Nouvaeu-FR" version that is the entire song in Chaos Language. And a fourth version of it that has all three languages in it...
Weight of the World English (2B)Weight of the World Japanese (9S)I feel like I'm losing hope
In my body and my soul
And the sky, it looks so ominous
And as time comes to a halt,
Silence starts to overflow
My cries are inconspicuous
Tell me, God, are you punishing me?
Is this the price I'm paying for my past mistakes?
This is my redemption song
I need you more than ever right now
Can you hear me now?
'Cause we're going to shout it out
Even if our words seem meaningless
It's like I'm carrying the weight of the world
I wish that someday, somehow,
That I could save every one of us,
But the truth is that I'm only one girl...
Maybe if I keep believing, my dreams will come to life...
Come to life...
After all the laughter fades,
Signs of all life washed away
I can still, still feel a gentle breeze
No matter how hard I pray,
Signs of warning still remain
And life has become my enemy...
Tell me, God, are you punishing me?
Is this the price I'm paying for my past mistakes?
This is my redemption song
I need you more than ever right now
Can you hear me now?
'Cause we're going to shout it out
Even if our words seem meaningless
It's like I'm carrying the weight of the world
I wish that someday, somehow,
That I could save every one of us,
But the truth is that I'm only one girl...
Maybe if I keep believing, my dreams will come to life...
Come to life...
'Cause we're going to shout it out
Even if our words seem meaningless
It's like I'm carrying the weight of the world
I wish that someday, somehow,
That I could save every one of us,
But the truth is that I'm only one girl...
Still, we're going to shout it out
Even if our words seem meaningless
It's like I'm carrying the weight of the world
I wish that someday, somehow,
That I could save every one of us,
But the truth is that I'm only one girl...
Maybe if I keep believing, my dreams will come to life...
Come to life...
English translationMy salvation fades away
My body froze in place
Even now, the sky is still so dark
The stopped clocks
The unsounding machines
That my voice could not reach
This is my curse, the depth of the sins I committed
Was your wish, but for embracing this impure soul, I will redeem
And so we right now
Ah, even though it's worthless, I still cry out
The song of that broken world
And so we right now
Ah, even though it's meaningless, I still wish
Just for a future together with you
May your smile on that day...
Lovingly disappear...
The overflowing greenery
And the spilling life
Even now, the wind is still so far away
The peeling rust
And the twisting blade
There in the forest where death lurks
This is my curse, the pain of killing a promise
Was your wish, but for throwing away my very last dream, I will atone
And so we right now
Ah, even though it's worthless, I still cry out
The love of this corrupted world
And so we right now
Ah, even though it's meaningless, I still wish
Just for more time together with you
May your drowned consciousness...
Gently disappear...
And so we right now
Ah, even though it's worthless, I still cry out
The song of that broken world
And so we right now
Ah, even though it's meaningless, I still wish
Just fr a future together with you
And so we right now
Ah, even though it's worthless, I still cry out
The love of this corrupted world
And so we right now
Ah, even though it's meaningless, I still wish
For more time together with you
Even if my prayers will not grant me forgiveness,
I...
I knew about the invented language but if it can be sung then it has lyrics, regardless of the tongue used.
I just want to sing along even if it's machine language but the lyrics on the Internet don't match what is heard in The Copied Factory raid.
I want the lyrics for the the songs that play during the last two bosses, they are just too cool, I hope the Devs can post them like they've done with other songs in-game!.
