Song Lyrics in FFXIV: Compilation, Discussion, and Interpretation

This kinda made me /headtilt at it (bluehand?), but a google search turned up the answer easily.

I have been wondering for awhile now though, is there any particular reason they refer to us as Uplanders?

It should be noted that in some FATEs the text bubbles of Idyllshire goblins also refer to the Illuminati as Bluehand in English too. Localization oversight or not, it does have precedence in English!

I suspect it's a geographical reference. If Eorzea is oriented to be center, then the Garlean Empire is northeast, Doma and I believe Thavnair are far east, the land of the Mamool Ja and the fabled city of gold are to the west. The Goblin race is from somewhere, but it's never really mentioned where other than that it's not Eorzea. I'm guessing, then, that "Uplander" is basically their calling us "northerners".

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking too. I was wondering if they're from somewhere south of us, but didn't know if anything had actually been officially established as far as that goes.

Everything up to the first "echoed in song" was confirmed by the PAX '15 panel with Koji & Soken, where we saw half the lyrics for each incarnation of the song.

I wouldn't mind seeing the other halves...
