So I quit the game about a month after it came out because I got a bit bored of the grind and I was just wondering what, if anything has changed since then.

Not much, it is still a grind to level up and gear up. That is what MMOs are.
Yes, I assumed it hadn't changed that much but I was wondering what all had. Lol
And thank you for the definition of MMOs, been playing them for ten years. Very helpful, though.![]()
The leveling grind has moved largely away from FATEs and more towards dungeons. (FATEs still give good XP, as they did before, but dungeons give much better XP than before, so they've become the focus.) There has also been more daily/weekly repeatable content added. Overall, I think there's a bit better variety of activities, which helps it seem less grindy, at least for leveling.
(I won't comment on end-game gear grind, as I'm not into that part.)
End game gear grind has slowed somewhat due to the removal of Philosophy tomestones and the Darklight gear being redistributed amongst the Level 50 dungeons.
Mythology tomestones still drop (at a slightly increased rate), but they still don't drop as much as Philo tomes did. You can do roulettes for dungeons at Level 50 that drop tomestones and gil as bonuses. Low Level roulette (Sastasha to Aurum Vale) will net you 60 Myth tomes, whereas Main Scenario roulette (Castrum Meriadinum or Praetorium) will net you 100 Myth tomes. They also don't have the 300/450 tomes per week lockout anymore.
Soldiery tomes were added and allow you to obtain iLvl 100 gear from Revenant's Toll, but they drop at a somewhat low rate and have a 450 per week cap.
They added the Echo buff (additional HP, damage dealt, and heal potency) to Primal fights on Hard if the party wipes after three minutes of battle. Each wipe increases the buff by 10%, up to a max of 50%. Binding Coil Turns 1-5 now have the Echo applied automatically upon the start of it (it's raised every two weeks by 5% to a max of 25% or 30% - I can't remember.)
They also added new sidequests (Hildibrand), the first part of Crystal Tower (a 24 person raid that's actually a lot of fun and drops i80 gear), the Thornmarch (King Moggle Mog) Primal fight, and Whorleater (Leviathan) Primal fight, as well as new story quests. There's quite a bit of new content and they've balanced out a lot of the old stuff. Some stuff still needs tweaks, but the game is growing at a pretty good pace.
Nothing changed much: Still having fun ^^
*wb!
