New to Final Fantasy 14 and need some advice!

Seeing I can't post in the General Discussion until I level a character up more.. any manner of advice would be appreciated, I recently got this wonderful game yesterday for my Ps3 (as my PC is horrible) and have been loving every moment of it. I know I should be experiencing it all for myself and simply learn from any mistakes but I'm someone who likes getting any form of advice if people are willing to share what they learned from playing this game.

Thank you for your time and I'm glad to finally become part of the community :]

    Get out while you can!

Mostly, it amounts to people telling you to watch videos on youtube on how to do things for fights.

If you need help knowing jobs, I can help on Black Mage.

Duty Finder, you might want to avoid unless you have some friends to do it with, because most duty finder groups are full of horrible players that will yell at you for the smallest mistake.

Fates are going to be hard for you to complete because of ATMA farming people are doing so it will be very hard to get experience.

I am not sugar coating this game for you at all. There are nice people, but the aggression that a lot of the players have is very noticeable . The first thing you want to do is try to find some nice players to join a FC with them and avoid everyone else.

Lmao yes run before it consumes your soul.. But seriously if you're unsure about which class to pick.. Starting out I'd say give them all a try. The cross class skills will be useful and most can gained in the first 10 levels. Which takes roughly 90 minutes in most cases.
Do the hunting logs and guild quests..for faster experience try out the levemetes.

I'll be sure to ask you if I ever decide to play a Black Mage :]! I'm still deciding on what I wanna play to be honest, I know I don't have to reroll but I find it fun making characters haha.

Though the problem with people telling others to watch Videos is there is so much a Video Guide can teach us, especially if there is hardly any new ones covering recent changes.. that and they tend to only give you a basic idea while peer to peer can get you much farther.. I personally learn more from playing and tid bits from other players then I have watching any video and heck I've watched plenty already.

Thank you! Though it took me a day or two to get to level 10 for the first time as I'm a bit slow when first starting MMO XD I shall try these out and get an idea of what class I wanna play, I'm loving Arcanist but I'll probably give the other Jobs a roll, though at the end of the day I end up going Tank 90% of the time even if I don't want to :__: again thank you, the advice is very handy. This is something I would of doubtfully learned from watching some stupid Video (which I have) as most seem to go more over classes and skills rather then decent beginner advice.

You shouldnt need any video guides before u start working on your relic quest, just say you are new and ask for tactics if there are any and you should be safe, its their fault if they wont explain and you wipe. Unless everyone is new, but thats rarely the case.

Do challenge log & nearby fates to level up, dungeons when u unlock them, guildhests for that nice exp boost and enjoy the game forums are full of negative people who qq about everything.

    I'm sure I won't be doing Relic's for quite some time but I'll be sure to do that or least try. I still need a keyboard for my Ps3 though it won't be for some time sadly, hopefully I can macro some phrases to insure I get that point across|to try and communicate and even let them know I'm new ^^;

I've already been doing Fates but it seems most of them are void of any people albeit no one seems to be doing them half the time :/ But I'll be sure to do that, I intend to enjoy this game to the fullest!

Also noting do to the 1000 character limit. I've found the Reddit to be much worse, the Forum seems pretty mellow in comparison haha

    Eh...

Honestly, though you'll find some good advice here for sure, you're better off making some friends in game, like joining a few linkshells or a Free Company. That's where the community shines the most!

The forum ultimately ends up being the place where everyone just yells at each other for having opinions. And I'm no saint XD

Too bad you're on Brynhildr though, if you were on Hyperion I'd take you in!

Haha I kind of figured, though the issue will be lack of communication until I get a keyboard until I get one for in game terms. That and I tend to find allot of more mature folk in the forum, not saying people aren't helpful in game. It tends to be even worse when people get into an argument over opinions in Game.. at-least you can make a long winded reply over the forum xD But eh, I don't think anyone is.. everyone has a different opinion and preference and we tend to absently shove it down others throats without realizing it.
