I doubt The Thavnarian Alchemist (Forget his name) is going to allude to any new classes. So far he's A: An Alchemist and B: Nothing else.

I also doubt we'll get any new crafting classes as any Gear Enhancement could be grafted on to the already existing Materia System, and Guns will most likely come from Blacksmithing.

(What else would a gunsmithing class make besides guns/gun components that couldn't be covered by the other crafts, it would be too single purpose to really necessitate it's own guild , and even when it comes to things like puppets/mammets it's already been established that the goldsmith guild in Ul'dah makes them even though players (currently) can't)

Yeah i see what you mean, the only way around it is to put weapon restrictions on the Job. Aka when you unlock samurai, you're first weapon is a single sword strickly for SAM/GLA. Forcing you to toss the Lance. I thought about having GLA as the main because of the sword, but I think people want the full class ability from Lancer and use the Gladiator cross class to fill in the tank roll. Arn't people wanting a DPS+tank roll? thats what i was thinking.

Dark Knight was a dps job i guess and based on the weapon hands it would make sense to have MRD as the Main class. But like the GLA they are tanks and any job would inherit the tank skill set. and i dont know if thats what people want from a strict dps class. My thought/solution/ramble/pulling out of my ass? Chemist is a gunblade class, not ranged like musketeer. Uses magic potions (non-consumable skills) into its blade as striking ammo for attacks. *think FF8* and when Chemist decided to use its magic potions on self rather than blade later on in its story something goes awry, and it "corrupts" making a new Job tossing single handed gunblade for two handed great sword. Also I was under the impression that Dark Knight was a vampiric DPS, and with every attack gains HP, so a MRD cross class sounds just right to me.

I hope they'll make this gunner class an healer job. Something like chemist, using spells not consuming items, kinda like FFX-2 chemist. He might be a great buffer decent healer.

@Wings, I do find what you're saying interesting but I'm still a little iffy on assuming MRD will be Dark Knight.. Every job can cross class over two classes abilities list, meaning the one blood skill from MRD can be tossed over but if you look back into FF's you'd also think of... 'Deathbringer' the black sword which can kill in a single blow that is DRK's signature blade in a lot of FF's so... Dark knights are known to use swords quite often.

They also have a common skill they use in most games, Souleater (Darkness) which is also uses their own hp (not give it) to deal more damage. (also DRK is known more for giving up their hp in some skills for more dmg than gaining it though in FFXI they didn't do it as much however Soul Eater was still there. Though this didn't mean they couldn't gain any as they are known to have blood equipment to gain HP/MP as well. FFXI also did exclusively give Dread Spikes and FFXI along with X-2 gave them the skill Drain which both gave HP to DRKs though Drain is mostly used by mages along the series, just something to keep in mind.)

But I'm not going to straight off the bat assume that DRK is going to swing off of GLD either because the very first DRK (Leon) in FF2 used Swords, Axes and his ultimate weapon was Longinus. (A spear) So honestly that gives the possibility of DRK going off of, GLD, MRD and DRG. Though I will say this, DRK was never known to have very high DEF in comparison to their other stats in most games so I do think MRD does fit that term if you put it against GLD.

As far as Chemist is concerned... mm.... I don't dislike the gunblade idea but I don't think it'd be gunblade, honestly we don't even know if it is Chemist coming around but if it is then they are known to use staffs, knives and guns. Tactics is a well known series which is where the gun reference comes through as far as that goes, Chemists normally were put to use guns as their close-combat skills were not their best suits.

But Chemist is also normally called other things too... such as Alchemist (We already have that class) and Salve-maker, So.. I'm really excited but a little sad... cause I think it'll be interesting if it really is Chemist however something really is making me think Muskteer is the class. @-@

Sam... hm... @-@ maybe? I mean they'd need to do GLD 30 and LNC 15 if they were gonna give it to GLD thats my only remark on that aside Katanas. :[

As a side note; I'd be more than willing to play Gun Mage but considering it's not very popular in the FF series (was only in X-2) and Blue Mage is almost the same thing I think if they were to add anything like that class it'd be announced as Blue Mage.

Edit: I personally would love something new honestly so I'm not against it but I have a very big doubt they will be putting much 'new' classes in here seeing FF series is a well known and long-time series.... so it'd be hard to be creative around the fan favorites and what people has came to know with the series really.

All i know is that they should be releasing some new healer/ tank classes if they r going to release more dps classes.
Cuz it's going to be just weird having like a dozen dps classes and only 2 or 3 tank/ healer classes right?

I think they will but it won't be as populated as dps probably to keep those classes in demand. Besides DPS in any game is normally more common and has more roles than tank and healer roles open to them.

:/ wouldn't that change q times for better or for worse?
I see it as more dps classes = longer wait times for them?
Ppl will probably flux to the new dps classes.
Soooo there might be a drop in healer / tank #s for a while?
Cuz i know a lot of ppl will try and bum rush the new classes to level 50 and be all like " yeahhh i look so cool being the only level 50 ( insert new class ) in mor dohna".

It's like when I joined a fate farming party one morning at 11:01AM, immediately after pulling my shiny new fat chocobo out of the mail. I felt so special.

By 11:03, half of the farming party had left to come back with their own fat chocobos. Then they were lined up like peeps in Mor Dhona for days. But for those two minutes, I was a snowflake and it was worth it...
