because we want the game to remain Final Fantasy.. not just another MMO with FF name on it..Again, WoW didn't invent nor does it have a patent on the ability to ride more than one type of animal. I personally see nothing wrong with allowing us to ride monsters that are logically big enough and could be tamed. There is no lore that states this is not possible, thus there should be no problem.
I just don't understand why people are so opposed to having options. You still have Chocobos, if you like them the best then just ride Chocobos. Nobody's forcing you to use the other available options.
What about being able to ride more than just a Chocobo would make it "not Final Fantasy"? If we stuck to "tradition" and never added anything to the franchise we wouldn't even have Chocobos. As has been stated, other means of transportation (both animal and vehicle) have been used in many FF games.
Also god forbid they try to move forward for once. Yes Chocobos have become a staple of the FF series and they are still going to be around. However adding more options gives us a little more freedom and choice.
There are bigger decisions being pushed through that will make this game "another MMO with FF name on it". Mounts are the least of your worries on that front, I can assure you of that. On that same note, there are a lot of decisions being pushed through that are giving the game the "FF" identity, having more than just Chocobos hardly diminishes that.
