Stay a while, and listen.
Flying mounts could be achieved as long as they don't allow us to fly too high and/or over places you couldn't go anyways. I don't know what the maps are going to look like once they are redesigned, but with what we have now, the exemple I'd give is that we could fly but still have to follow those tunnel-like maps.I like the idea of other mounts beside chocobos, I just hope they add something besides rideable mobs. It seems weird to have a mount that is the same species as the things you slaughter while adventuring. I hope they get creative with it, magitek would be cool, flying dragons would be awesome. Anyone know if flying mounts would be possible with the kind of maps we have in this game? I really haven't spent much time in MMO's outside of ffxi and ffxiv so I don't really know how flying mounts usually work.
Flying mount will be a problem with current map, we have too much invisible wall.
you can all have a dragon... i'll take the behemoth
Hiryuu says differently. While chocobo is a mainstay, atleast 3 dragons have been used to fly that I can think of. 2 Hiryuu/Wind Drakes in Final Fantasy V and Kuja's silver dragon in Final Fantasy IX.
i want to stick to FF Lore... PERIOD... stop trying to warcraft my final fantasy.
Warcraft didn't invent mounts (or much of anything for that matter). There's no lore in any Final Fantasy that states I can't throw a saddle on any random creature that's large enough and use it as a mount.
If we stuck to strictly FF "tradition" from the beginning of the series, we wouldn't have chocobos (or most of the jobs/classes either). We'd be playing a single-player, turn-based menu RPG. FF is a constantly changing and evolving series, usually for the better.
It's not like it's Chocobos or anything else. It's Chocobos AND anything else. Why does what other people ride bother you so much?
I think that SE should feel free to bring in new mounts but only if they are going to add a substantial amount of lore around how, why and where they are used as mounts. If you look at the Grand companies page and try to imagine it with soldiers mounted on a diverse number of different mounts the army would start to look more like a disorganised mob rather than a well organised militia. So i hope if they add more mounts that they do it slowly and try to be sure that they wont look too out of place together.
I want to ride a tonberry!!
I want to ride a marmot!!!!
