My reply is this..maybe give a stacking debuff that increases by say 1% per fate..Until say a 15% drop rate total..It would take ages to still get it and be random but yeah...Would solve alot of problems.

agreed ive been fate grinding like hell since this atma bs started and i only have 2 getting a little tired of it and honestly about done with the game. i mean come on some people get all 12 in a week while others go crazy fate grinding for nothing for weeks on end. to quote spock "this is highly illogical."
I realized I haven't bitched in about a month.So here goes.
Atmas. That mechanic everyone loves to hate. Proof that FFXIV is becoming FFXI-2 (but not really... right?). The one mechanic that made burned-out players up and leave.
Do I want it gone?
Why's that?
Let's look back at the actual relic quests, shall we? The initial ones. Now, open your journal...
The steps in a nutshell are right here.
Yay, Zenith in 13 steps! And a fine weapon, besides, sometimes surpassing Titan's drop!
What? Atma?
14-25) Grind in Fates endlessly and pray you get a stone.
Shit went from 14 easy-to-follow (if still challenging) steps to... 25 mind-numbing steps. And for what? A fresh coat of paint, and no increase in stats.
At this point, burned-out players will simply stop playing. Unacceptable.
And with the help of my FC I got my WAR relic in a few hours. Cool, so what? You're mad that you can't just have a new endgame weapon with virtually no work? Because that's exactly how much work the first part of relic takes, unless you don't have people and are using a bad pc/ps3 to take on titan. Now, maybe the plan is to make relic weapons the best weapons at some point, but I still contend that there will always be good weapons through some tome thing, or instance stuff etc.
And I sort of like the first part of the atma quest being something you can't track real progess on other than how many atma's you've obtained, because when you can calculate exactly how long it will take to grind something, then it becomes routine and for me that's extremely boring just grinding, or doing bray sr's.
The division is also something I take issue with.
When it was just the relics, there were people who paid their wins. It was fine; getting the money to pay for them is no small feat either. And there was this sense of "it can't be helped". If they have no skills, it'd show during a run anyway.
Now, atmas come around, and what little remained of respect goes out the window. Those who get atmas feel entitled to their win, so they believe they have every right to go and tell people to "git gud scrub". This is highly toxic to a game that is meant to be accessible to people of any schedule.
So now we have burned-out players and atma grinders who think they are better than the people who decided that atmas are worthless. You will have people who want to keep their Elite Badge and people who look at it and only see a waste of time. Those atma grinders want to keep their validation, and a group of people who tie their sense of self-worth to abysmal RNG is a recipe for disaster.
I wouldn't be surprised if some complaining are those who paid merc groups to get their relic in the first place. Now they have to put some time into acquiring it and not just throwing gil at others to do it for them, they don't like it XD
Some is not all before any jump to that conclusion.
Personally, I came to the conclusion that getting my soldiery stuff is a far greater guarantee, and a more efficient method of raising my stats, than the atmas. Soldiery is just better than atmas in every single aspect.
From the reactions on the forums, it's clear that not all feel the same. Though I very much doubt that their argument has any ground other than bragging rights.

It really comes down to two things:I wouldn't be surprised if some complaining are those who paid merc groups to get their relic in the first place. Now they have to put some time into acquiring it and not just throwing gil at others to do it for them, they don't like it XD

1) Beating your head on actual challenging content is fun. Trying to beat Titan HM, the EX content, BCoB... That is fun.
2) Beating your head on low-level FATE content and the RNG is NOT challenging and NOT fun. Not even sure how it's remotely supposed to be fun.
All the steps of gearing up for your Relic and Zenith were fun. You had challenges and a bit of grinding, but it all fit smoothly together, and flowed well, with a good story to boot.
Obtaining your Atma weapon is the exact polar opposite of that. Running around from spot to spot on the map, fighting under-leveled content over and over and over again for no reward other than maybe you hit the magic RNG win? How is that fun? Why should improving your character not be fun? I can't even use FATE grinding for Atmas as a means to also level my lower-level classes, because you must have your Zenith weapon equipped. There's no benefit other than maybe a couple dozen seals per attempt and maybe some Exp for your companion if you remember to have it out.
How is it challenging? How is it work? Work is trying to learn a fight. Work is getting teamwork down to defeat a hard boss fight. Work is not running to a FATE and mashing 1 and 2 until you win. That's tedium. Time does not equal work.

Mmm, whole post felt so good I might need a cigarette after. And I don't smoke!
Well said, all around. SE made it clear to me: Relic is not my cup off tea, post-Zenith. And more than that, FATES were never all that interesting to me anyways, and I'm tired of being force-fed the FATE system, even if they pretty it up, lavish me with reward incentives and call it "The Hunt". . . Pass me a Gerolt/tome weapon and point me to the Coils/future high endgame raids.
1500myth is extremely easy compare with 12 ATMA grind!!
I have started to grind ATMA again, OMG was I cursed ?? I don't feel it is RNG.
It works like math, and by some reason, (maybe player name is a factor)someone will have less chance to get a drop.
SE please fix it! It is extremely tedious and dispressing to grind ATMA just bcoz you have much lower drop rate than other randomly.
