Tips on getting into the server you want?

Hiya, i'm not quite sure if this is the right area to post this but anyways...

Does anyone have any tips on getting into a server of choice? or is constant refreshing and hoping the only thing i can do? I'm really trying to get into the leviathan server and was just wondering if there's a way i could speed up the process.

try creating your character late at night when not alot of people are on, those locked down servers hop on an off the lockdown list depending on how many people logged on atm i believe

Above is the only option.

Why exactly do you want on that server? If the server is suffering from locks then it's already severely over populated. Overpopulated servers you might have more people but then you can suffer for that too. When you have events like Odin, who I've not see yet, there can be so many people there you might DC or it will refuse to allow you into the zones since it's player capped. There might be so many people using the market that prices are rock bottom. When new patches are released there will be 'queues' to kill x amount of critter etc. A high or medium-high pop server will serve you just as well.

@ Saccharin Actually... Our Odin and other fates seem just fine and I often log on with not too many issues after a patch is put in. The only real issue I seem to notice is SE doing another maint sometimes not long after patches. :x

Also our market board is just fine.

Anyways back to the topic at hand, try logging on at night is my suggestion which is one that was already made.

Edit: I'm not saying overpopulation is good, just that I personally don't find it really bad on Leviathan. :x

Hyperion were odin and behe is down only 43 seconds after spawning so unless your already there in full party no luck for you! So yes overpopulation not always a good thing!

I recommend waiting until the moment maintenance is finished. And be quick about it!

I've got characters on both Leviathan and Hyperion, two of the games biggest servers. While they're locked very often, they're far from being overpopulated.

They don't lock servers for being "overpopulated" (meaning too late), they do it early before it becomes an issue by funneling players into the other servers to help keep populations balanced.

Servers seem to be locked out for a few days. And then it rotates. I'm sure some are worse than others. But I wanted to create a new character on Cactuar, and I couldn't for about 4-5 days.

So wait, and try every day. Eventually the server lockout should be lifted.

Odd that we have rolling lockouts, but there aren't a lot of people in the starting levels except 50's grinding ATMA.

They change the restrictions 5 times a day, so refreshing repeatedly isn't going to help. As others have said, try early morning. Good luck!
