    BLM PVP Assistance PLZ

I am desperate, I have tried to find anything I could but everyone is just complaint topics from December when they added in PVP and everyone quit doing PVP.

Is there any tips on how a BLM can get not instant OBLITERATED in pvp?

I am Rank 16 full 70 pvp gear/acc and full twink 40 w/ quad materia.
    I live a little longer in 40s because of 1handed weapon + shield/parry.

I already usually do barely any DPS compared to other DPS and Marauders due to only casting Sleep when I have a chance to cast and Scathe when running away.
I can run as a THM and pull the skill the +20% DEF skill, but that hardly helps.

I notice I never tend to fight against BLMs, assume due to reasons I am said.

Any tips or are we just utter trash until this 2.28 patch which said it buffs BLMs (hopefully for PVP)?

    BLM is stupidly powerful in PvP with good use of Sleeps. Make sure your healer realizes that you're going to be getting smashed first, and you should fare better. A lot of your sting is in the control you have at the start of the fight. Oftentimes when I'm with a BLM, I can basically free-cast Adlo on you guys. (Which in turn allows you to cast. Maybe even more than just sleep!) >_>;

I guess I'm saying to queue with a SCH!

I will say that I only have 40 queue experience, though. No idea what 50 in i70 gear is like.

Stupidly powerful? Is this a joke?
We never get to cast actual spells due to fact any attack of any kind will interrupt the caster.

Our Swiftcase and Surcast is used to cast either Sleep or Blizzard II (for bind).

All we are good for is CC but the second anything touch us we die.

How often do BLMs actually get to cast Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder?
The answer is once in a blue moon UNLESS the enemy healer is dead and the opposing team gives up and lets you cast Fire on them.

Again, we are easily the rarest job in the game for pvp.

Nope. No jokes. Maybe I chose the wrong words there, but not joking. I've been royally fucked by BLMs plenty times. If you can even just keep the healer locked down, that grants your team a lot of control, and a large window to do a lot of damage. Maybe not you, personally. I'll grant you that. You have nasty cast times, and one reliable instant cast. Galvanize helps to alleviate it, but only so much.

Are you queue'ing solo? That could be a lot of the trouble you're having. Coordinating sleep/kill orders with strangers is rough. And they're likely to completely ignore it.

I'm certainly not saying you have an easy job. I'm familiar with the BLM's kit. I s'pose I should've said it CAN be powerful... with coordination and good job synergy.

The main problem with playing a BLM is that it requires your team to coordinate based on your sleeps, in pugs, that can be very difficult to achieve. Become a HIGH HP sleep machine until you find your stride. Stack VIT (Tank) accessories and invest some more VIT from your general base stats. Rotate your sleeps amongst your enemies. Keep track of diminishing returns reset ( 1 min) Make macros telling your team to switch their focus to the enemy that has the highest diminishing returns while you sleep the rest of the team. Sleeping the healer is the most effective sleep target. YOUR TEAM NEEDS TO KNOW YOUR PLAN. Cannot stress that enough. 1 minute after you drop your first sleep on say.... the healer and he purifies, if the battle is still raging 1 minute later.. Sleep the healer again as soon as the 2nd minute starts.. that healer's diminishing returns will be reset and will be slept for 30 sec with nothing they can do.
GG. Spam scathe to interrupt the healer. You won't be doing much dmg, so make sure the tank and the melee are ALWAYS focusing.. if you are teamed with with a WHM... you can both be sleeping things all day.

You don't see many Black Mages because the job has a very high learning curve to play effectively. You need a deep understanding of diminishing returns/Purify timers, zoning and knowing where your CC will produce the most damaging yield in a match. You can't go in expecting to be hardcasting Fires and Flares, same as you can't expect to win games by sleeping everything moving - both damage output and control require a high degree of precision.

Even if a THM/BLM did pitiful damage it means little if the game amounted to a win due to their control over the match with sleep cycles and kiting.

By dropping down to Thaumaturge you lose access to Freeze, Manawall and Flare in exchange for a host of cross-class abilities. You're trading burst damage on-demand for hard support/utility. IR/BfB, Awareness and Featherfoot are all pretty great to have. Foresight however is ineffective in Wolves' Den.

I was having trouble on BLM as well.
Your always the target of everyone since people don't want an enemy BLM to go unchecked.

A few of my pvp friends told me to invest in some Tank Accessories to help me survive a little better, it has been going very well so far.
Try to get nightwing right away, instant cast sleep is always great! Also Make good use of Aetheral manipulation in lvl 50 pvp and Mana Wall.

I'm still learning Black Mage role in pvp myself but i'm having a blast so far win or lose.

    Thank you all for suggestions!

I am unfortunately stuck queuing solo, but these suggestions atleast help me try different tactics for telling team stuff they don't even pay attention to :P .

    Surecast, swiftcast, equanimity !

Goal : make sleep target in "focus target" and assist your mate with snear + dmg ! No need more...

As a healer, I have to say that most important is : when you are focus run next to heal, dont go away from him^^ Trust me, it's stupid but nobody does

I usually win games when I play with a black mage. They usually focus him/her instead of me, and if they focus our black mage, that just gives me more time to use repose and rebuff stoneskin
The only problem is that sometimes when I see their healer with low hp I try to get in a fluid aura or blizzard 2 and kinda forget that the black mage almost gets one shotted if I don't heal it. Done that mistake a couple of times :$
