Can someone give me insight on why a lot of SMNs prefer ifrit over garuda in pvp? I figured that ifrit might have more burst dmg and the stun might be useful but it seems he is a lot easier to kite than garuda?
Thanks in advance

Who knows.. maybe they are bad and dont know? Garuda is the best choice, harder to kite, contagion, and will get off more overall damage.
I haven't done much PvP (14 matches, 6 wins). Pn the Primal data center, I get crushed. I went as WHM all the time.
I planned on trying PvP more tonight after T6 since I bought PvP gear off the Marketboard teo days ago for BRD.
Don't buy the PVP gear at Marketboard. I'm pretty sure those gear are ilvl55, which is not good if you're going against ilvl70 (on lvl50 PVP). And also lvl30/40 PVP has no morale so PVP gear is useless.
Since you're just starting out, I suggest that you stick to lvl30 until you get enough abilities. A lot of newbies are also playing at lvl30.
Keep in mind that using PvE gear will be far superior than using ilvl55 PvP gear. As long as you have ilvl90+ PvE gear you're better off to save your gil to use it for Materia when you get the i70,i90,and i100 PvP Gear.
As a Whm you should avoid level 30, go for 40! You will have access to stoneskin and regen and surecast (if you have leveled black mage) and divine breath. Without them you're kinda just running around til you dieDon't buy the PVP gear at Marketboard. I'm pretty sure those gear are ilvl55, which is not good if you're going against ilvl70 (on lvl50 PVP). Do you guys think there'll ever be a frontlines game?
I'm rank 17 and my wait time is 30min+ per game as a healer. And that's 8 players. Frontline is 24 if I got my information right. Maybe the first week of the patch there'll be lots of games and after that it's gonna die and I'll never get to play it agian.
What do you guys think?
Play anything that is new in pvp till your eyes bleed as whenever there is something new that is not coil/ endgame, it'll be spammed till death till ppl get sick of it or have gotten evrything they wanted or need.Do you guys think there'll ever be a frontlines game?

Once that initial rush is gone, so will the majority of the participants. Only the hardcore and determined will stay. Thus y SE has to add/ " improve " it to " bring back" more players as it will seem less daunting and more worth it.
I disagree with this. WHM has Cure2, Esuna, Repose, Medica, and protect don't take a spot on additional abilities which can be used for Blizzard2. WHM basically has more skills than SCH.
Scholars on the other hand don't even have succor and leech. So, basically the only useful spell is Adloq, Summon, and Aetherflow.
As a whm:
Q30:
-esuna
-protect
-fluid aura
Useful non cross class abilities that will help you run away and survive. ( excluding cures, etc )
Q40:
-esuna
-protect
-fluid aura
-stoneskin
-divine seal
-regen
-stoneskin
-stoneskin
-stoneskin x99999999999
Q50:
-everything
