My main concern would be duty finder runs, as those are the ones you really find yourself getting screwed on if/when a tank or healer leaves. Party finder will always have those groups that have crazy requirements, so that to me is a moot point.Whilst the intent is good, it would be exploited by denying people who don't have certain jobs leveled, I can get any runs with my DRG, but that would change if this was added the basic would be BLMs only for trash, change to specific classes for the mini bosses then change back to BLM for more trash, and to specific jobs for the boss, just look at all brayflox HM myth speed runs all are BLM only just to kill aoe trash down it will be the same if class changes in dungeons were allowed (remember AV in 1.0, all BLMs for the run, and change to MNK for the boss? how does anyone think that will be different now?

That simply shows that there shouldn't have been an "in-progress" option in DF to begin with. Even WoW pooled new and in-progress runs in their group finder to avoid the sort of problem we are seeing here.I think people are wanting this jut BECAUSE if a Tank or Healer quits a party it takes much longer for the DF to find a replacement for those classes than a DPS Class. Lets face it, not many tanks and healers ( including myself most of the time ) will Queue up in the DF with the Join in Progress Option checked.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
I hate joining a instance group part way through the run. I like to progress through the entire thing and not be parachuted in.
I would rather abandon a zone then join it in progress.
When you join a new group through the DF there is a good chance you will finish the zone, enjoy yourself, and not be subjected to drama.
When you join a group that is part way through a zone there is a good chance that the experience will make you wish that you hadn't logged on.

This is one of the few cases where "the good of the many" supercedes "the good of the individual". Giving people the option to ignore in-progress groups does more harm than good on average. More so when the DF is set by default to ignore in-progress groups.I hate joining a instance group part way through the run. I like to progress through the entire thing and not be parachuted in.

Combine the long wait times for replacement tanks and healers with the fact less people play them and you have a recipe for disaster.

A couple things to make that work.
1. The only way you can change class outside of what you already are, as in going from DPS to healer/tank, or Healer to DPS, is if there's a vacant position in the party for that particular class/job already due to someone leaving the instance. It would have to be designed that you could not queue in as a standard party, then everyone switch to all DPS/Heal/Tank, or overstack 3 DPS and one tank as someone already mentioned.
2. Outside of that, to maintain the balance of what they intended with not being able to switch gear mid battle, there can be no class/job switching as long as anything is on the aggro list at all. To expand on that, the switch would have to occur only to fill in a specific vacancy due to a kick/abandon only, with no ability to change once even a single monster has been on your hate list, even if defeated. So basically you could only do it at the start of an instance if someone leaves, or, only after someone has vacated that slot if mid way through the run so that the criteria resets. But if for some reason you aggro a mob, or decide to continue running it without that particular slot filled, you cannot switch afterwards and have to allow DF to do it's thing.

While it does sound like a good idea, there are some problems that do arise.
1) The idea of voting definitely fixes a lot of potential griefing.
2) You should only be able to switch to a class that is missing.
If a tank leaves, someone can only switch to a tank class.
3) This is the biggest issue I can find.
If a DPS class can switch to another, that brings a whole new level of griefing.
Say some group in the DF wants to SR (Brayflox, for example), if you're a DRG queuing, and they want a BLM, they can simply vote kick you for not having the ability to switch to their "required" class.
It would definitely happen frequently, considering the abuse coming from vote kick/abandon already.
I can imagine it already...Oh, the horror.

Even though it sounds like a nice idea we all know it's gonna be abused and people are gonna get neglected if they don't have access to multiple classes/jobs. If we didn't have all the negatives we have due to player behavior I'd be down without any hesitation but with a community that enjoy their exploits and rage when others can meet their demands I'd rather not help that mentality keep being enforced and made worse.
I wouldn't mind this as long as there's a restriction such as party vote or whatever. I really hate when I get in a dungeon and the tank or healer ducks out, whether it's a legitimately good reason. I waited an hour to get into a dungeon the other day, just for the healer to leave because Behemoth was up.
it would be useful if the set up on df was bad and cant complete the team could chang thus allowing the boss to be beaten
Titan Hard Mode would be so much nicer with the suggested voting class change.
So often snooty tanks or dps' quit and no one EVER joins mid-fight.
I've completed Titan Hard several times with a party of 7 and once even with a party of 6 so in those instances this feature would have been very helpful to minimize the downtime.
