    Losing health during boss fights without being visibly attacked?

    Hello again!

    I've been playing ARC/BRD a bit now, and lately I've begun to notice that my toon seems to be losing health seemingly every time I attack a target during boss fights? I've watched it happen both in Haukke Manor and in Brayflox's Longstop and I have no idea what's going on with it.

    I have no debuffs on me, and nothing is attacking me. Have I missed something?

    Hi there!

    Well depending on your situation there isn't too much to go on for that one, either it can be a graphical glitch, or a re-positioning issue if your client side doesn't update the area fast enough, but there's a much simpler explanation given the dungeons you just gave me. In Haukke Manor's last boss, there are some objects that will continuously inflict health damage unless interacted with it, this can cause the appearance of health loss without needing to be attacked, and for Brayflox's last boss there are a few moves that can cause damage without having to be in range of an attack, for instance the "ground pound" which causes raid-wide AOE if you're in too close proximity to the boss that drops rocks while occasionally knocking you back and there's also the AOE poison that will make you lose health if you step inside it. These are just some speculations since there's not much here to go on. More details would be nice, but here are just my two cents

    It hasn't got to do with the lamps in Amandine's chamber, or the poison pools in Brayflox's Longstop. For example, during the fight in Haukke Manor with the Steward and the Jester, with no aggro and no debuffs, I'm taking a constant stream of damage, and it occurs seemingly when I attack. During the final boss in brayflox, when you step into the pools you get hit with a poison debuff which does appear for me when I'm too close. My tact in Brayflox is to keep relatively close to the last poison pool, that way the poison isn't cluttering up the room every single time the dragon targets me. But my debuff goes away on it's own, and afterward I'm still taking damage.

    Haukke Manor's last fight involving the lamps only deals full-party damage once every so many seconds, I thought. With a multiplier for every lamp that is active when they go off. Not a constant drain on my HP. Also, to be clear, this is only happening to me. The others are safe. At first I thought it was maybe a secondary effect of one of my boost moves, and then maybe that I was just not seeing the debuff, but I've been keen-eyed about it and I'm at a total loss.

    you could always switch to the battle log to see what is going on. It may be just something to do with the server lag we have gotten recently.

    Hm... that is strange, at that point I would have to say it would have to be the desyncing on the client and server side of things. There are occasional bugs still lurking about that can sometimes pop up. If you can, I'd advise putting up a post in the in-game bugs section of the thread if this still continues throughout normal gameplay. Sorry I can't be of more help on this one. I hope you'll find your answers soon though. From my knowledge, aside from BLM's health to mana conversion there isn't a skill in the archer/bard arsenal that drains one's own hp.

    Is it a "spikes" effect? The imp thing in haukke manor uses ice spikes (damages you every time you attack) and the big lizard uses fire spikes in brayflox...

    Thanks for the input and effort with helping me figure this out. I'll check the battle log on my next brayflox run. As for spikes, I hadn't realised they do this. I'll keep keen-eyed. Again, thank you everyone.

    That seems to be by design. Best example the dreadnoughts in T4. Mob animation and incoming damage have not much to do with each other.
