Well, if they were smart I doubt this would have happened to such a large scale as it is. This is just a symptom of their bare minimum approach to PvP, the new gear just made it even worse because people actually want that gear and they've locked it behind a wall of tedium.

If they were smart, by now we'd have seen:
    • The PvP Challenge Log being stand alone in the PvP Profile, with far more challenges than just "Win 3 matches and play 10". That alone could fix the EXP/Marks issue.
    • The current map being randomized. Simple solution to make things slightly less monotonous, take the current map and adjust the pillars/walls.
    • The current mode being changed to a best of 3 or 5 rounds, with each round rewarding as currently does. Again, very simple to implement.
    • Different game types. Capture the Flag and King of the Hill should be simple enough, the scoring system would need to be changed, but Transportation is already in the game, as is standing in a destination to trigger a countdown (Darkhold has this mechanic).

None of those really seem all that difficult to implement at all (coming up with new challenges would probably be the hardest). The only thing preventing such adjustments is time not being allotted to PvP development, and well... It's no wonder PvP is failing when they're not putting the time to develop it. Why should we care when they apparently don't? Frontlines is going to have to be absolutely mind blowing to excuse this... Sadly after seeing Cyrodiils Campaign, I can't see Frontlines matching it, more so since I started hearing it's 8v8v8...
