There are huge differences between crafting demands and repair demands.Did you not read the notes? "Dark matter can be obtained from vendor NPCs, as guildleve rewards, and through gathering."
And even if it "easily obtainable" it's like saying shard crystals are going to be cheap because it's simply easily obtainable. Only problem is you've left demand out of the equation.
Since this item, dark matter, is going to repair a HUGE range of items, it will create a HUGE demand for it. Oppose to what a Maple Plank CAN repair, which has a small demand for that particular item. If you don't see that the intrinsic value increased from that, and in portion which will also increase its gil value, then I don't know how else to explain it to you.
Maybe this example would help you understand what I'm getting at;
What would happen cost-wise if instead of different elemental crystals for crafting, there was only 1 crystal. Would that crystal cost more than lets say what the current crystals cost now? Maybe yes, if your crystal is one of the low demand ones, but maybe not, if it is one of the extremely high demand ones.
For those who missed the post, I'm comparing what it would have cost now, oppose to what it will cost to repair an item after patch 1.18 via materials vs dark matter.
People only need repair once every 2-3days if they play alot, Demand will be big for sure but not enough to drive the item price insane or empty the market stock.

Alright, since you want to believe market trend will remain low priced and low demand, lets just see what happens when patch comes.
Here's the current pricing for some common repair materials according to yg global median
Maple Plank - 250
Ash Plank - 1000
Copper Nugget - (400) via NPC
Brass Nugget - 1500
Iron Nugget - 1200
Silver Nugget - 1750
Dodo Leather Spetch - 600
Buffalo Leather Spetch - 1000
Boar Leather Spetch - 500
Cotton Fent - 1000
Canvas Fent - 270
Linen Fent - 750
Velveteen Fent - 1000
So, taking those common materials, roughly cost 1000 for r20-50 equipments, and roughly about 300 for r1-20. Lets see how much dark matter is going to sell for when the patch goes live and settles in after a week or two. Lets hope it's around 1k all around for grades 1-5.

Thankfully, SE prices for grades 1-3 Dark Matter is reasonable. It matches roughly the cost if not lower for repairs materials pre-patch 1.18. However, prices for 4 and 5 cost twice and four times as much as one would pay for repairs respectively for the materials alone. Don't forget, I didn't add tip cost if you were asking someone else to repair. I'm speaking solely about the repair materials themselves.Alright, since you want to believe market trend will remain low priced and low demand, lets just see what happens when patch comes.

You can see the price increases exponentially from rank to rank. So, you can just imagine what the price would be when we break free of the r50 cap.
Here's the price from the NPC selling Dark Matter ;
(anyone that is selling it on bazaar over that price is ripping people off)
Grade 1: 100 gil
Grade 2: 600 gil
Grade 3: 1,500 gil
Grade 4: 2,800 gil
Grade 5: 4,500 gil
Cheers.
