Reducing the cost of NPC repair is better, but at the same time not very useful.
There isn't much benefit to repairing gear to 75% when nothing can be sold or traded unless at 100%.

Personally I'd like to be able to take all my non 100% gear(most of which is 85-99%) to the repair NPC and just click on all the items and pay to get them back to 100%. But I understand this would undermine the usefulness of crafters so I'm sure it would be greatly protested. But as for me, I don't like a system where I'm afraid to even equip gear cause it might get dinged or scratched and now I have to go through the whole process of finding someone to repair my 99% gear.

At least they left some material of some kind in so that crafters can still have a job. I'd say be happy that they didn't just go with a one button click repair like other MMO's.

Heck, they could have just let the NPC's do everything for us. I think this is really about condensing inventory space and with this game, that's a good thing.

Finally they have managed to lessen the role of crafters in the game and diluted a mechanic of the game to worthlessness!!!!

Don't worry, you can still validate your existence and justify your choice in crafting in your mind further because people will still have to come to you for repairs if they did before. Only difference now is that you have to carry a smaller number of repair items around.

I swear it's not like that was all you crafters did. There is that whole "making most of the useful items in the game" mechanic but I guess that's pretty worthless too. It's not like you make all the R45+ gear....oh wait.

Actually, I'm not that upset. I'm just being bitchy. Sometimes all the negativity on these forums leeches its way into my bones and I have to rid myself of it someway.

To simplyfy repair mats (to save inventory space) is a good idea, but I don't like reapir mats simply being replaced by those meaningless dark matts, instead, I still prefer fent to repair clothes, leather spetch to repair leatherwear, branch to repair woodstuff, etc. SE, you can just invent some universal fent, spetch ot branch for repairing use, but not those dark matts.

Another thing I don't like is now a crafter has to spend more gils on those damn dark matts to repair their own stuff, rather than making repair mats by their own with very low cost. I do hope those dark matts will be easy to obtain or selling for very low price by NPC.

And goodbye my 1M gils of Spoken Blood which I just bought 2 days earlier...

Sweet thats about 6-8 inventory spaces I had full of spetches I no longer have to carry around, and a few fents. I am definitely in favor of this big time.

I think those that oppose this change are framing the decision in the wrong way. I think for the dev team it was either
    a. get rid of repair system all together
    or
    b. simplify repair system

They opted to keep the repair system. I think this is a good compromise decision that removes the hassle of repair without removing the feature itself. I think of it kind of like the Auction House v Market Ward. They could remove market ward or make it usable and convenient. I like that they are going with the latter instead of the former in these choices.
