Wasn't it said somewhere that they were going to re-evaluate a lot of the current crafting recipes at some point? If so these items could become useful again or they could be used down the road for other things.True, I forgot they mentioned it but....Hmm...some mats seem to useless when it comes to crafting such as branches and spetches, and the wording on the official lodestone page seems to imply that they'll be utterly useless...
"Replaced" does give it a kind of finale tone that dark matter will take the place of all the mats.
Oh well, I hope you're right, Firon, and that the rest of the mats will be useful in some way or another.

at this point, might as well just get rid of the repair system all together. Now its barely a thing for crafters (still can make things and are vital to the upcoming materia system) so why not do us all a solid and trash it. Id rather spend NO time taking off all my gear, putting it in my bazzar, waiting and hoping for a quick fix, then doing it at all.
i vote for trashing the system and giving crafters other, non-intrusive (mainly to other classes) things to do.

I agree, they are going to dilute the repair system to something meaningless. Might as well junk it!from another thread i posted on:

Not a bad idea, though it would require them to re-figure the penalty for returning after being KO'd. I think mass hysteria would ensue if they introduced EXP loss.from another thread i posted on:

I think massive ammounts of WIN would ensue, bring on the EXP loss, why not toss some temporary stat loss in there too! HELL, give us damaged limbs that we have to bandage up lol. (I'm all for death penalty, can you tell?)

Yea, at this point, I don't think they repaired the repair system, rather, pointed out that it is now completely and utterly useless and should just be removed.

at this point, with this system in place, its barely going to be anything more then slight burden....the burden being the whole take off gear > bazzar > wait bit. Money is not a big deal and with dark matter, which will seemingly be in mass supply, is there really much of a penalty as is?

It's funny how people don't avoid dying for the sake of not dying. Dying sucks, it should be seen in most cases as a direct result of some kind of a failure. You shouldn't need to be slapped on the wrist or punched in the crotch after dying too. SP/XP penalties are just that, a punch in the crotch while you're down. You should feel bad when you die, you clearly screwed up or weren't good enough to do whatever it is you were doing. Go get better. Whatever happened to people wanting to play well for the sake of actually playing well?
The only difference is that now you don't have to go hunt down a specific repair item or hope someone has one. All the processes and all are the same, the part you describe is the exact same as it is now. As it is now it's little more than a burden. I want something repaired? Put it up in the bazaar for a nice sum of gil. Money is meaningless so what does it matter to me?at this point, with this system in place, its barely going to be anything more then slight burden....the burden being the whole take off gear > bazzar > wait bit. I dont see how this makes it useless, it is just simply easier to repair items now if you meet the proper requirements. With gear degrading stronger upon returns, this could come in handy by allowing you to have the repair mats you need on you at all times.
The only issue i see with this system now is in the gear itself. If you're suffering from gear damage, the reduction in stats should probably be even more appearant than it is now.

I agree 100%, And with return causing equipment damage we will see a new higher level of repair demand. Crafters will be on site at the camps to give their assistance. Until people wake up and actually try not to die because their is a penalty.I dint see how this makes it useless, it is just simply easier to repair items now if you meet the proper requirements.
