Why I want to Downgrade to a Small Plot

I was holding out on the possibility that in the near future the item limit inside medium plots would be raised so that I can make our house beautiful throughout. Right now our ground and basement look delightful but, because I reached 150/150, the top floor is a blank, bare travesty. So much so I took every furnishing up from it and just left it empty so that people knew the reasons for it being so bland by comparison to the other floor.

When my company purchased our plot, small houses did not have basements. The basements were not added for well over a month from purchasing our medium. We also worked very hard to farm up the amount for medium. Had small houses had a basement at that time we wouldn't have bothered because, in my opinion, small is by far the best plot for a moderately sized company such as mine.

It never felt like an issue until I read yesterday:

There has been many requests for increasing the number of furniture that can be placed within housing. However, due to server stress, this will not be possible for now.

So given that Large and Medium plots are difficult to properly decorate due to this limit, maybe you should add a cashback feature on plots so people can downgrade? I can't be the only company leader who would like to but doesn't just because of the time and effort my group put into purchasing our medium plot.

If you take the amount of furnishings that we have to cover each size, small is by far the best plot. Large has so much more space to decorate but nowhere near a proportionate amount of furnishings. I didn't think Medium was too bad but it's difficult to make a house look good with so few spaces.

That's a lot of money and, more importantly effort, invested on a novelty system that, basically, can't be used to its full extent. I could make a small house look delightful. It's hard to make the whole of a medium plot look equally as good and I feel complete sympathy for anyone tasked with making a large house look good because it's next to impossible.

My request is simple: add a sellback feature for company leaders that gives them a coupon equal to a large percentage or all of the price of their plot at the time of purchase so that they can downgrade to small.

The small houses, with the basement and their ability to decorate the stairs, are hands down the best plots and my company would all but certainly have bought a small had the basements existed at the time.

i'm with you. we have a large mansion and we hit our limit on furnishings within the 1st week and there's still a LOT to be done.

I feel like we're paying a premium mmo subscription but we're getting 10 year old servers that apparently can't handle anything and are used as an excuse for anything they want.

I wouldn't grab your torches and pitchforks just yet you guys; for now just means that they don't have it prioritized, or in the works at the moment. This doesn't mean that they will never implement it. If you downgraded, then during work for 2.4 they announce that they are going to up the limit, you'd regret the decision. Just be patient.

It's an issue now, so I would rather a fix now or in the near future rather than a 'Please look forward to it'. And I don't think I would regret the decision because, as I said in my original post, I feel the small plots are the nicest plots anyway since the addition of basements.

Ya, this is really starting to get pathetic. They keep adding more and more stuff that adds "stress" to the servers yet our houses that cost butt loads of gil can't get some extra slots added. They keep adding new housing items in the game and we are left with no choice but to remove something old to put something new in. That on top of the plethora of empty spaces everywhere really makes it sad hanging out in our house.

I know full well the reasoning for housing costing so much but don't punish everyone because you allowed a few old 1.0 players to keep huge stockpiles of gil. Our FC started fresh and new in 2.0 and earned every single gil to buy up and furnish our house.

If server stress was such a huge issue then doubling items for small houses has to be at least twice as bad as giving med and large houses 50-100 more spaces. Think about it, the majority of housing plots are small so doubling that adds a lot more total items then adding 50 items for every medium and large housing plot.

I'm also getting tired of hearing so many server stress excuses. You have quite a successful game, buy / upgrade your servers already and give us more housing spaces.

I am confused about this response and why they cannot increase items for Free Company houses but are planning on adding player housing which will have numerous magnitudes greater items, since each person will have a house.

the whole housing system is wrong and dated. They put very little effort in its creation and it shows. Upgrading servers doesn't fix the fact that their housing system is built on the most sterilized and least creative foundation for housing since ffxi.

If I have a large house I think I will put more large size funitrue and have as less as possible desktop item ^^;
I think small house max ppl capacity is a full party, before basement adding, a light party was just barely fine.

I made a post awhile back about this. SE is basically just lying because they said they can't increase the item limit for large and medium but they go ahead and DOUBLE the small ones. Think about all of the small plots out there, then the item size limits that were doubled and got a basement.... I think theyre just being lazy about it to be honest.
