Viera inbound? *spoilers maybe*

I don't think those are horns on yugiri's head. In cutscenes where it's windy they were fluttering around a whole lot, more than even ears should. That could just be a weird part of her hood, could be ears, but I highly doubt it's horns unless someone messed up on the physics.

I chalked the wind up largely to the fact that the character model is literally a mannequin, and thus doesn't have the detail or physics a finished model would. I think the most likely event is the race is unique, but if not than a dragonkin race still fits strongest with the other things we know about the first expansion.

Perhaps Yugiri is a unique race (and not a Gria). But I highly doubt the appendages on her head are rabbit-ears.

I'm not sure why people are debating Yugiri being a Gria as they are already in the game. E-Sumi-Yan, the leader of the Conjuror's Guild in Gridania is a Gria... the lore surrounding them also makes it highly unlikely that they will ever be a playable race.

As for the Viera... I think they're somewhat unlikely any time soon simply due to their being so similar to Miqo'te. We're more likely to see distinct races first and Yugiri's clear reptilian features certainly make a lot of sense in that regard.

That's what I was thinking, I still bank on a variation of the Bangaa just cause they're the more reptilian style race from the lore. . . . but still, could be somekinda Dragonkin. . . . Maybe a "prettier" version of the Bangaa though, I still have a gut feeling on that one

Since other people have already assumed she was Viera herself on this very forum, despite the fact she has a lizard tail, I was replying to that theory actually, not your OP. I actually totally overlooked that you actually think she is a Bangaa (which is even sillier, sorry =P). Bangaa are not human-shaped with flat faces, but it didn't stop you from assuming that's what she was for some reason. Her obvious physical traits seem to be something people are not even looking at before they come up with these random theories.

Just because we get a new race in FFXIV doesn't mean they will be adding FFTactics races to the game as well. There is no logical connection between those two things. Yoshi-P has specifically said in the past that he does not plan to bring in pre-existing playable races from other FFs, and that he personally doesn't like the idea of male Viera and doesn't want to add a single-gender race. So unless Yoshi changes his mind about that, it's not very likely we'll see Viera or any other crossover races.

Now, if Yugiri turns out to be a Gria (which is much more plausible than her being a Bangaa), then we can make a logical assumption that more Ivalice races like Viera might come in the future. But until we find out for sure what Yugiri is, there is no supporting evidence that Viera are anywhere near a possibility.

That was my assumption through all the scenes. They look more like odd folds than ears to me.

The assumption about Ivalice races, especially Viera and Bangaa, come from a poll taken probably last year(?) about the races the player community wanted to see included, a poll that SE seemed to take quite seriously, at least at the time. I don't think you'd get any direct copies of races from other Final Fantasy titles, but heavy influences are decidedly possible; after all, our current races are heavily inspired by FFXI.
