I'm from Gilgamesh, and I tend to get at most one RMT tell per day, and generally no more than one per week. Haven't noticed anyone shouting for RMT either... Are they in Mor Dhona? I hardly ever hang out there anymore, now that Party Finder has made it pretty much pointless to congregate in one place.
I see it in the three main cities. I could even tall you the gil seller's name since it's been the same one for two weeks now but I'm not to sure if that is breaking any rules.I'm from Gilgamesh, and I tend to get at most one RMT tell per day, and generally no more than one per week. So, the problem here is that the RMT spammers often get "speaker" characters through stolen account info. These aren't people riding on a free trial like most games. And with the random name generator, there's no point in putting in a gibberish name filter. The only thing they can do from their standpoint is crack down on them as much as possible.
When you get a tell, just blacklist them.
The only things that would stop the spam would also severely hinder the experience for legitimate players. You'd have to enable things like CAPTCHA codes for whispers on low-level characters (and holy moley that would cause an uproar) or to completely disable lowbies from whispers, which would be even worse.
Just blacklist them. No game can truly remove them without encroaching on the positive experience for the actual players.

Psst. Hey, you. Person reading this.
Have a good day

First, it's not as simple as "block that IP." Second, it is *impossible* to completely remove it until money buying stops. WoW still has them. They're still in FFXI...sorta...and I'm sure games older than that still have them. They are, unfortunately, VERY good at what they do. Their talents may be wasted, perhaps, but they're good.

Yeah it's really annoying in this game. More annoying than F2P games like DCUO and Neverwinter. I don't think I even got spammed once when I was playing SWTOR trial.

(>...> Why are you guys complaining....
Think of it as a value added service.
That is what I told myself to prevent me going rage mode.
Heli's Black Market open for business. Sells black market items for your exotic needs.
closed for business till further notice

RMT spam just means the game's still doing well.
CCP did a good job with Eve Online since they introduced PLEX. Having a legit way to purchase IG gold can make a few faces sour up at the thought, but it's sure beats having to blist spammers every few hours and anytime I log in.
I don't think it'll take this kind of move for SE to make an impact. I'd like for them to just remove /tell altogether and force people to rely on /fc or /ls for non-zone chats. This way, all SE has to do is put some effort in monitoring /shout when RMT bots have no where else to spam to.
