Make classes as potent as jobs!

    Hello there,

Currently, when switching from a class to a job, the job receive a substantial stats boost. Making classes obsolete as soon as you have the corresponding jobs unlocked.

This is quite unfortunate in my opinion.

Classes were supposed to offer a greater freedom of customization to players and less clearly defined boundaries. This, in turn, allowed the player to shape the class to his play style.

However, with the coming of ARR, the classes are now a simple transitory phase to jobs.

Please give the classes a greater potency to make them useful at higher level again.
(A stats bonus like jobs, a bit more points to allocates or a greater freedom of abilities and equipment.)

You can still balance the content with jobs in mind and let the players adjust their classes themselves, it's alright. That's we want with classes.

    Thank you very much.

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.

I'm pretty sure they said classes are for solo play and jobs are for party play after a certain level.

They said it right from the time you got them.

Classes have a lot more flexibility in terms of skills they can pick from for cross class skills at least. Just a bit more limited in terms of certain gear you can use...

It's called specialization, and it's something society has been doing for thousands of years.

Everyone can more or less bake a loaf of bread with decent enough instruction or harvest grain. If everyone just kind of did whatever you'd have everyone eating some mediocre bread. When we specialize, make one person a baker and the other a farmer, you wind up with better grain and better bread, because neither has to worry about the other's job.

Classes are supposed to be the base foundation, and should remain that way. As the game grows I'm sure you'll be able to see that in better light, when you have multiple jobs which can branch off of a single class, and form new jobs based on combinations of various classes. The entire point of the job is that you are growing beyond what is the standard template; and I think the Job Quests do a fine job of showing that.

There is absolutely no point, at this time, or in the future, to buff classes. They should remain exactly as they are, a foundation which provides structure to the eventual job.

The OPs point is that Jobs outclass classes so hard that there's no reason to EVER use your class again once you hit 30 (aside from messing around with lolDPSmarauder maybe). Classes are supposed to be for "solo and small group play," but they aren't good even for that.

How exactly could they possibly make Classes as potent as Jobs while still continuing with the design of Jobs being endgame?

May as well be asking for Weathered Hora to be as potent as High Allagan Baghnakhs in my opinion. One is meant to be better than the other, that's just how its designed. Presumably they only left them in for branching Jobs like Summoner and Scholar. I really don't have much of a problem with it, it's actually very Final Fantasy. Once you got Red Wizard/etc. you never went back to the originals, for example.

What i wanted with ARR is to create jobs depending the cristals you use.
For exemple, if you equip the WHM cristal on an arcanist, you get the Scholar job.
If you equip the BLM cristal on a gladiator, you'd get Dark Knight etc..
But that'd be a lot of work i guess lol.

They're just fine for solo play. You have access to cure and second wind on any class you're playing, as well as a number of damage buffs. But once you're doing group play, you won't need to heal yourself anymore, so you specialize.

I'm happy with the current class/job design and don't understand the complaint as it is levied.

The whole class -> Job system really bugs me honestly as it feels unneeded, the whole system is acquiring abilities through quests and you could take out the the job crystals entirely and nothing would change.

It would have been more simple and avoided the whole "Jobs are better versions of classes" thing, just have it be a Job and not be split into two pieces.

Job crystals honestly feel like the ability to be able to upgrade/downgrade yourself on a whim.

No need to have a lesser version as the foundation for the better version when you can just have one version that improves as you go along, its just so messy.
