The thing is with a half decent tank the dps and healers should never need to move. It's not even a hard mechanic, running through the boss and turning him away from the rest of the party. If the tank doesn't move obviously I will, but that doesn't change the fact that is a terrible tank.

I'm rather thinking that this might have been the case in the OP's situation.
I wasn't referring to the OP's case specifically. It was in reference to a poster who thought that it was the duty of the dps and healer to move, which is clearly not the optimal strategy.

Muzy sums it up pretty well.

Sharing the responsibility simply helps shrink the party's margin of error and in the likelihood an error should arise the consequences are less sever if not entirely negated all together. Besides it's not going to hurt your dps or hps to take a half second to move a few yalms when needed. People need to learn to do this anyways earlier on if they ever expect to clear various endgame content like Titan-Ex.

Perhaps, but the attitude the BLM and Healer had the entire run makes me think they were half assing it to begin with. Such as no consideration for hate management, not paying attention to the fight enough to know they were getting melted (Flame Throwers are spaced out enough they should notice the hp drop and be able heal back up in time), not being able to clear the bombs reliably (I mean seriously even an uncoordinated BLM and a WHM/SCH could duo the entire room if they were paying attention), "forgetting" to LB... yeah that kind of behavior all kind of points too it.

But it is the dps and healers job to stand in the right place. The tank shouldn't need to point the boss away from the group, so much as he should point the boss away from where the group is supposed to be. If you decide to stand on the tank and die, that's your own damn fault, not his.
