Even after all this time... still stuck on "Gale-force Warning" quest. (Garuda EX)

This is ridiculous.

Never has a battle been so subject to chance, be it getting into a group that knows what the attack patterns are, to the gear they're wearing and how much knowledge they have about the fight. Are the mechanics in this battle ultra difficult to adapt to or is it just me who keeps getting into baffling groups?

Yeah, I know. "Don't expect to win any primal EX battles with a DF group." Playing with randoms is always a pain in the @$$ on MMOs but what strikes me as odd is the fact that with MMOs - "Massive Multiplayer Online" - I'm supposed to play with other random people. So, what gives?

I'm an item level 84 Monk on Excalibur trying his damnedest to complete this quest and move on. I've been stuck on it since before my monitor gave out over a month ago, and prior to that I'd been trying for over a month to find a winning group.

I've tried it all. Party Finders, ventrillo, coordinating with other members and strategizing BEFORE the battle, but nothing yet has supplied a win even once.

At this point, if I don't complete the quest in the next month or so, even after acquiring all the best gear I can find, I think I'm just going to quit this game for good and go do better things with my time. This is ultimately blocking me from progressing through the story.

I love the Final Fantasy series, period. I love this game especially. Love the graphics. I love the mechanics of most components in this game. Crafting is wonderful. The user interface is very simple, easy to read, and easy to learn. But I HATE this battle, and I HATE the people who play it... most will give up after wiping even one time! Wasting my 2 hour wait on DF! HUFF!!!!!!!!

(Don't even bother mentioning Titan EX. The few people I've been able to talk to on the game have already filled my mind with nightmares.)

i need to do this too (on coeurl or id help). i havent given it a shot yet. ive just been running other things to gear up.
its just bad groups. i was in a CT group from hell last night. it happens. from what i have read, the extreme primals leave little margin for error. i can't imagine garuda ex in my mind. even on normal and hard it can be a tough fight if everyone isn't on their A game and know the mechanics.

If you can't ( or cba ) to find a group of friends to do stuff with, you need to use party finder, never duty finder. If you are too impatient with PF groups, I guess then it's fair to quit....most things after garuda , besides dungeons, are aloooot harder, and much more frustrating in terms of random groups. Garuda must be a little more unpopular these days due to the possibility to have an i90 and i100 rings with tomes alone, thought that might be worth mentioning, maybe all the good players just aren't doing it anymore.

I've cleared Garuda Ex many times, but people struggle with it in DF.
I got a trial roulette with Garuda HM last night, and people wiped 4 times, and then started dropping. The problem with DF is that anyone can do it as long as they meet the minimum requirements, even having no prior knowledge of the fight. Sadly there is no way to check if they have completed it before (at least not until you're in the instance, but it's too late by then), you don't know if they have watched the fight on youtube to get the basics down, and you don't know if they internet connection can handle the instance and the things that it throws at them (this comes more into play with titan-like fights).

1/10, you might get a DF group that can get it together, and down in... but in the time it takes for all those tries and wipes, you could have just gotten a Pf and nailed it by then.

I am currently leveling BLM (49...) to hopefully stand a chance at winning this battle. I've noticed in some groups people just drop after mentioning "omg, melee dps, im outta here" without even giving me a single shot.

That's part of why I say I hate the people who play this game. Like, seriously?... I may as well quit because I like to tell myself that I REFUSE to level a specific job just to make it past a certain point in a game. It's been like that for as long as I've lived. But I'll make an exception because I love BLM.

Our server seems to have difficulty with the simplest of things. It's almost pathetic, but there's ALWAYS one bad tank, one bad healer, or 1 bad DPS. It's the reason why i've never been able to pug Levi and get a win (100% of the time that win is with my FC)

Yah I hate the stigma of melee DPS in that fight. I honestly get more wipes from ranged AoEing and killing the Spiny than melee DPS who can't dodge WW or cross the twisters.

Pretty much all contents after Garuda HM is like this. If you can't do it with PF groups, befriend experienced people or at least good players and make your own group with them. Eventually, you'll get the kill. You're still playing with random people but at least you know they are random good players.
