Im not talking for endgame content just for FATES etc can just push the one button and watch tv or something else, mainly just to be lazy in some fights, but obviously for endgame stuff if you have to move around it wouldnt work.
With GCD < 2 sec you can get one more in, I know its not huge difference but I just enjoy attacking faster, it makes combat more exciting.

And how much SS is needed to do that? You're sacrificing so much Determination and Critical to achieve that high of a number just so you'd run into TP starvation later on. And when you're TP-starved, you have to wait before you can attack again. Isn't that less exciting?
Here's an analogy: Do you want to hit fast but hit like a wet noodle for 5 minutes or hit hard, just a little bit less fast for 8 minutes?
Even at base skillspeed, I was running in the neighborhood of 300-400 TP by the time divebomb starts.
Spellspeed is good for BLM because you have unlimited MP as resource. Skillspeed is useless because we all have the same TP regen no matter the skillspeed. Determination increases average damage. Crit increases critical hit rate per point so there's no diminishing returns there. Skillspeed increases attack speed but does not increase TP regen so you're running out of TP way earlier than you normally would.
Actually its not much sacrifice since I don't do coil or ex primals since I'm a fairly casual player the gloam set has close to enough on it with a few other pieces in there. And how much SS is needed to do that? The set I am going for is: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/MFEX
It's pretty low in Crit but its got a decent Det. and tons of Acc. if I decide to do a little coil.
I have only run out of TP a couple of times, but for what I do it is very rare the furthest coil ive done is T1, so for me I just find it more fun to attack faster.

1.) Spellspeed is good for BLM because it has a universal application. The so called "unlimited MP resource" you mention isn't anywhere near as useful as spell speed because it becomes pointless since we BLM's suffer from downtime due to umbral III. Even though a lot of people in this thread just don't want to hear it or see it.
2.) Skill is anything but useless. Yet I'm not surprised that people prefer to see a cup half empty instead of being creative and resourceful with what they get.
3.) You all don't have the same TP regen. Monk gets 400 TP from invigorate. The most optimal time to use it is when you drop to exactly to 600TP. Dragoons get 500TP from invigorate. Paladins and Warriors don't get a TP regen source. Bards get Invigorate, Army's Peon, and Battle Voice and two of those helps every class/job that uses TP aside themselves.

I definitely agree there's use to it in endgame.
However, early in the game, when you get stuff that grants like "Skill Speed +3"... that's something that should definitely be replaced, because you can't even start stacking close to enough for it to be meaningful.

bad ones, maybe
there is no intellect on warrior gear. spell/skill speed is on all class gear and for most classes it is a wasteOP, Spell speed is amazing for BLM, and skill speed is pretty useful from what my monk friends are telling me. Are they useful on every class? Heck no. Intelligence and Piety are pretty useless on Warrior but they don't need to buff it. Every class has different stats that are better for that specific class.
I put enough Skill Speed on in Titan EX for 2.4 GCD on MNK & DRG because of all the dodging. I generally stack Det/Crit on DRG MNK for most other content.
I don't have my BLM up too high (iL78) but I tend to stack Crit/Spell Speed where I can until I have better gear.
I do think your Skill Speed should increase the rate at which you regenerate TP when TP is <400.
