I'm against this. Don't like the whole luck based system to begin with, AT ALL. And this idea further encourages things like the atma quest's RNG.

Second, I don't want to have to spend dozens of hours to get the gear/materia/consumables that will ultimately increase my drop chance from 0.01% to 0.015%

I think that's a bit of an odd statement. This is an (MMO)RPG, where random events/situations are part of the very core of the genre itself. That's like going into a shooter game, disliking the action aspect of it, and claiming it should remove that aspect of it (or something ridiculous like that). You're in the wrong genre of game if you feel RNG shouldn't be a part of the RPG game you play.

How can you even say that luck in an rpg is the equivalent of action in a shooter game? Random events are NOT the very core of the rpg genre. The RPG (which literally stands for role playing game) genre is about the development and progression of gameplay elements. I don't even limit it to saying the progression and development of your character because you can develop other things like weapons and armors, pets, "castles" etc.

Furthermore, when people say things like "Mass Effect or Fallout are shooter games with rpg elements", do you serious think that they mean to say that they are referring to luck when they say RPG elements?

The RPG's origins would like to share a dodecahedron/icosahedron with you. Oh, wait, that happens to be RNG, the horror!

Yeah because ALL rpg games, specially the newer ones, have a die to roll.

Xcom, fallout 3 and world of tanks are all newer games whose gameplay revolve around rng. Try walking up directly behind an enemy with a shotgun in Xcom and you sometimes still have a 5% chance to miss.

Hmmm of course there is a dice roll in EVERY RPG...the computer just does it for you....otherwise I would be hitting for 1380 with every single buffedfull thrust and it wouldn't vary one bit.

True, dice rolling was involved, but it wasn't truly central to the game, I can remember many sessions going by without a dice roll, simply because we had that much fun just roleplaying our characters.
