Can we get Gauntlets, tower defense, and other similar things?

A while back I suggested a survival mode, something like T4 but lasting until it's a wipe. I think a lot of people generally liked the idea, as depending on player skill it could be a good way to get experience, Gil, seals, etc. The longer you go the harder the enemies get, etc.

But what about a tower defense sort of thing, a similar concept but now with barricades we have to keep up, that would involve crafters and gatherers in huge parties in large areas. People escort gatherers to acquire materials for crafters to make, and all the while defending an area from never-ending increasingly difficult mobs. Thoughts?

Sounds like fun. I'd love to do something other than Brayflox speed runs for my soldier cap.

Good idea, each round you get to can be one myth! get to round 30, that's thirty myth. Things will get harder and harder so this is a great idea

We had something like this in 1.23.

    http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Ha...efense_Battles

You'd defend a Hamlet using all magic/war/land/hand classes against waves of beastmen.

You'd have a line of infantry NPCs to heal/buff, various debuffs/buff to apply to the enemies through DOH/L and a beastmen boss to deal with (usually kited by the PLD or WAR)
Ontop of all this you'd have NPCs with various jobs in the Hamlet at their 'Stations', these NPCs couldn't defend themselves and loosing one was a HUGE determent to your score.

    It was REALLY good fun.

Depending on the amount of infantry/station NPCs that were alive, the time it took to finish, your timing/ability to deal with the boss/additional enemy spawns, you'd be rewarded with a score that would affect your reward and overall loot-pool.

This was the only way to get Militia gear items in 1.23 which were a really nice set of items to help with progression (albeit with a crappy drop-rate).

On-top of this a high-score would refresh your Anima which was used for teleporting in 1.23
