1.0 Ending, Did you know?

No one knew. The whole world got to see the video exactly after the servers went down.

I'll admit I shed a few tears, to see Bahamut come bursting out of the Dalamud with all his rage... it became a situation of 'heh, we killed Van Darnus hard mode... now he and his silly moon will turn into glitter and float away' to ... 'Are... are we going to die?' and it made it more amazing that no one knew... we could only watch our world burn and be able to do nothing about it.

It's one of the few games that made me feel quite emotional. I wanted to run to Gridania and help invoke Nophica... but we had our place... and then we were gone, spirited away by Louisoix in an attempt to spare us from the flames.

Agreed. Having never played until the release of 2.0, I had no clue who anyone was or their importance. Despite that, it doesn't take much to see the opening video and go, "Hmm, this guy is/was obviously a very important person. He's probably either the leader or founder of this group of heroes and is saving them, himself be damned." To me, there was also very much an Obi-Wan vibe given off.

Ive never played 1.0 (well technically I did, I tried the beta) and I still watch that Cutscene at least once a week, and usually tear up a little.

The scene just after Bahamut breaks out of the Scions prison, and it cuts to Kan-E-Senna and that look of "oh gods we are going to die" washes over her face.

Also Dalamud that approaced the planet little by little was an amazing touch. It really gave the impression of continuity. 10/10 would play again.

I had no clue who he was and I teared up. He clearly sacrificed himself in the video so its not difficult to figure out he is a good guy. It made me really want to know who he is.

In 1.21, when you could see the blue engravings flowing along the surface of Dalamud, I thought it looked like a veiny space egg and there was something incubating inside.

Then it got closer and I threw out that idea.

Ahhh... the memories of the 1.0 ending. The skies were always dark, foggy and only Dalamud's red hue was seen everywhere... and then every few minutes, Gaius would ominously fly over our heads.

So yeah, the ending video was a heck of a climax... very poignant, very emotional and powerfully delivered by SE; and made us understand why they intentionally lead us to connect with Sensei Louisoix from the early stages of the game... made that sense of loss all the much greater.

I actually managed to take two last screenshots of him just a day before the end event... it was the weirdest thing because I took the picture on a strange whim at the last minute...
