Sure it is... why else would anyone repeat the same instances over and over again to farm tokens? That is stupidly boring. Why would someone rehash low level fates over and over again? That is stupidly boring.

The end game is for no lifers... casual no lifers. In order to do the exact same scripted content 100 + times to farm tokens for fun- you would have to have a REALLY boring offline life.

Best gear should be in hardest content, but how about making it less boring? It's all the same as our level 5 gear but with more stats, where are the fun things like set bonuses, or activate-able trinkets?

    Not confirmed at all...
That was speculation in one magazine only.

Not so much speculation as an actual roadmap published by SE. When you think about it, it was the prefect PR tool to encourage more people to work on their weapons.

Given the amount of work that's gone into Atma/Animus and assuming the same for Novus, it makes a fair amount of sense to have them on par with Coil weapons for 2.3.

All SE wants is people to have a reason to farm High Allagan for a few months, currently it's this way, but don't expect that to last. They'll give us a VERY good reason to work on Novus when the 2.28 patch drops, IMHO.

Yeah.. I'd love to bring them around to kill some mobs for funsies.. I means some of the story quest, job quest, or even FATEs we have NPC tanks and healers, I'm sure our retainers can do the same

We have ventures don't we? They go around killing Mogs and bring you mog weapons and other dungeon gears (heck, they were the REAL world first T9 kill, and solo kill, because they brought back White Raven Fragment before BG got their kill ), goes hunting and bring you back monster meet and stuff for your cooking, steal furniture from other people houses. Just that you need to pay them in venture coins. That's like being a mercenary. I don't mind bringing them out for some fights and pay them ventures thou.

the problem also is lockouts forcing you to static and depending on those people to be on. Coil isn't big enough to have lockouts to be honest and now all you have is a split community - people who have a static and people can't join friends cause there locked out it is a load of nonsense and needs to stop.

Lockouts is to disguise the fact that there is a lack of real variety end game. Trials and coil just does not cut it and crystal tower was a joke from day 1 tbh for the current players of the time and beyond. What the game desperately needs is more raid variety and fast to avoid needing lockouts to prevent people from progressing too fast.

End game in FFXI even with just sky hell had more than coil there was no lockouts could do sky everyday if you wanted and it never got old for a lot of people. If you weren't after gear money drops were split.
Then you had Dynamis again if you weren't after gear currency was split after even break.
Then there was sea with an unbeatable last boss however do believe it was beaten eventually.

They were huge but then we have coil just bosses with mechanics with lockouts and purely gear can't run it for anything else.
There does need to be more, otherwise people will slowly start cancelling subs and then this will be labelled the game with promise but failed.
Hell there has already been people cancelling just because they gave up trying to find a static or there static broke and couldn't be bothered to go through the progress again - what about these people SE? do you care about them? or are you that desperate to prolong the content that they are worthwhile losses in the long run?

Your lockouts have been causing hell since it started and now it starts all over again.

    I totally agree, Yurihyuga, Xatsh.

There needs to be more variety and horizontal progression / rewards; things to keep players interested and doing meaningful stuff besides just 1 Dungeon (Coil).

Even in its most basic form, Final Fantasy XI had lots of things for End Gamers to do. Note, I'm *not* advocating bringing any of these things specifically into XIV, just pointing out some examples of events to do besides just 1 Dungeon in an MMO:

    * There was Sky (Tu'Lia), with an interesting *System* and Loot Variety tied to it: From finding and defeating various Key Mobs (NMs) around that dungeon, to defeating 4 Special NMs (Byakko, Seiryuu, Genbu, Suzaku), getting 4 Key Items, and then continuing to fighting Kirin (Final Boss).

In addition, there was *variety* in the Loot for all of those NMs (not just the final boss). There were Rare Crafting Materials that allowed Crafters to help Adventurers to create great gear.

There were Abjurations (to help reverse Cursed Gear and get some great gear out of that), and then the actual fully completed Gear Drops (like Byakko's Haidate, etc.).

The dungeon was so interesting, I never got tired of it.

    * Dynamis - Massive 64 player dungeons. Shadow Lord Boss. Unique Currency for Relic Quest. Side Paths with Alternate NMs / Bosses to fight to get your Attestations. Other Drops and Key Mobs to find and kill, besides Shadow Lord (Final Boss).

    * Hunting Kings: Nidhogg, King Behemoth, Aspidochelone, etc.

    * Individual Hunting for NMs spread around the world that can be soloed, for rare drops that were "BIS" for the longest time.

Again, I'm *NOT* asking for HNMs or NM pops (that encouraged botting), but the point is that there were so many things to do for End Gamers, and plenty of Horizontal Progression and more interesting stats than the Controlled Stats that Yoshi P has right now (where he's controlling the Max Main Stat with every patch).

Ultimately, with more variety, it makes Final Fantasy XIV a better game.
