which somewhat implies that the OP has no right to complain about the mount because he refuses to/can't do coil. It may be overthinking on my part, but some people simply don't enjoy it, and saying "why don't you do the thing you don't like ?" doesn't add anything constructive.


Taking sentences out of context is the first step to misunderstanding the whole thing you know....

My question has more than one possible answer, which is why I asked, and because, like I said, I was curious. It's funny that when I ask a person why they choose to not do coil, I get other people responding for him saying 'some people just don't enjoy it'. Well I wanted to hear his reasoning, not your assumptions. Never said anything that indicated he had no right to complain.

It's not just coil. EX primals apply as well. If you don't want to do EX primals or coil, you're basically saying that you don't want to do endgame that requires effort. The devs want to reward people for tanking content that actually takes tanks with some degree of skill (which is the content that tends to suffer from a dearth of tanks).

Hmm more like lots of us lack a proper static group inside FC or LS, trying to get the 'time gap' from Japan, East Coast, and West Coast.

Coil is fun, Ex are hard, I like it all, only need 'proper' group ^^

So t4 is faster then any other dungeon besides brayflax? Yet that counts and lost cities doesn't? All end game needs effort. Any ex fight besides garuda took no effort at all on tanks part really. Dungeons we still have to hold our hate. And I do not do coil mainly because work/fiance. I have no coil groups and sadly just don't have the time for it like I wish I did. Also I can't imagine getting 200 ex kills anytime this decade.

Different degrees of effort. And it's not just the effort you expend inside the dungeon. All of the stuff that qualifies for the achieves is 8 man content, which means that there is organizational effort expended. You don't really expect to succeed on a DF for an EX primal or coil. You fully expect to succeed on anything 4 man (or even HM primals, given their roulette status).

Dungeons are complete and utter jokes where mechanics are concerned. In Titan EX, you have to dodge stuff that will instantly kill you and tank swap. In Ifrit EX, you have to tank swap without cleaving the breath to your other tank, dodge charges, avoid killing your group with the tank eruption, and place Ifrit properly so that people don't die to the plumes. Even if you find all of those to be incredibly easy tasks (I do; I've been farming the EX primals since a week after 2.1), they still require more effort than anything you find in a 4 man dungeon.

Not all endgame content is created equal. Just because you do the easiest stuff (for *whatever* reason) doesn't mean that you deserve to get the same things as someone doing the harder stuff (and you already get the nearly the same gear since you can spend unlimited myth tomes to get gear equivalent of coil and soldiery to get stuff that's better).

A vast majority of my achieve kills were total pugs I found via PF. You don't have to have a static in order to do achievement content or even an active FC or endgame LS. You simply have to actually join groups to do it.

You could just as easily complain that it's hard to get the gilded mount if you run with a static since you're required to run with DF solo queue people in order to get commendations (and it's not even guaranteed because they have to pick you specifically). The tank achievements are for people that actually do the endgame content you can't just fall into and complete. If you're not one of those people, then the devs weren't aiming the achievements at you (or they *were* aiming them at you, but they're working to encourage you to actually do the harder content you currently refuse to do).

During the event that was held in Japan, someone actually asked this to YoshiP.

YoshiP apologized but the honest answer to this one is because they never stored that data (how many times tanks went inside dungeons prior to 2.2) so they couldn't put those numbers in and had to start from 0 count.

Well, the initial guide i saw said:

Warlion - Complete the Quest 'But Somebody's Gotta Do It' (Paladin) by completing 200 High-Level Full Party duties as a Paladin

But then since then, it has become apparent that this only includes:

The Howling Eye (Extreme)
The Navel (Extreme)
The Bowl of Embers (Extreme)
The Whorl Eater (Extreme)
Thornmarch (Extreme)
The Binding Coil of Bahamut (excluding Turn 3)
The Second Coil of Bahamut

no body force any1 to do any content. any1 can do any content they want. the tank mount is a by product of doing high level raid/trial (old and new end game stuff).

now a day you can do T1-4 and Garuda ex on PF. (or DF sometime)
they no longer consider end game raid, it now just farming place like CT when it release or CM when it first out.

It melts my cheese that Healers get their special mount just for showing up at L30, while I have to do an imperial fecal-ton of difficult content to get mine.

Exactly. They get something special for doing nothing. While a casual player tank will never get anything special.
