Hmmm... Anyone can point me to the direction of Eorzea Divorce Laws?
Sounds like a great time to pick them up and be a Divorce Lawyer. Imagine the gil you gonna make!

I think they should add polygamy into the game, I think it speaks to one of the core mechanics of this game, the armory system. As we all know the armory system is all about adaptability and being able to master multiple roles, just only one at a time, but you are free to switch and even go back as you please. I think marriage can be the same way.
I think adding a Marriage quest is a very slippery slope. They either have to be inclusive to the LGBT community and suffer the wrath of the Traditional marriage people, or exclusive to the heterosexual folks only and suffer the wrath of GLAAD and other LGBT organizations.
While I think Eorzea is ready for it, I don't think the real world is ready for it yet.
I don't remember anyone ever complaining about LGBT inclusion in FF XI marriages
"They're not ready for it" is a 100% bullshit excuse. The only way to change society's mind is to forcibly alter how a system works, regardless of whether or not the misguided feel "ready". If you wait for when they feel "ready", you're never going to get anywhere.
Different cultures reach conclusions at different times. Forcing something doesn't do anything except cause problems and resentment.
Eh, there's also the issue of China. China is the next playerbase SE is targeting for XIV, and obviously it is a very, very large one. While China did take homosexuality off their list of mental illnesses in 2001, same sex marriage is probably still a ways off. Japan is also still fairly conservative. I feel like it's unlikely that they'll put same sex stuff in their game, at least for the time being, and especially if it could offend potential customers.
I personally feel genderlocking things online is ridiculous, but I'm not in charge of the company, so it doesn't really matter.
"Cuz when your back's against the wall,
That's when you show no fear at all."
It doesn't matter which side I am on for this, but calling either side of an ethical debate misguided can hardly be a step in the right (or left) direction. Insulting someone's religion or lifestyle just goes to show that maybe you should look more into the issue, and that way you can support your side with facts and not insults.
