Why keep this UI now?

It always worries me when I read interviews with the dev team and they talk about better mouse integration for the controls...

I have no interest in playing with the mouse, In ffxi I didn't have to touch the mouse ever, And I'd like this game to be the same way.

Agreed... you only needed ONE hand to play 11 with the keyboard... just palce your hand over the numpad and you could do anything and everything.

here you need WASD to move, arrow keys for menu choices, jkli for cameras... its a mess

IMO they should go back to FFXI UI controls. The mouse worked great for those people who still use the mouse, and like was said, you could use one hand on the num pad to do everything for the hardcore gamers. Either way, it was far less complicated, and I dont think anybody had complaints about it. My girlfriend played FFXI ALOT, I am trying to get her into FFXIV but one of her biggest complaints is the UI. Please bring back the simple controls of FFXI SE.
