I tend to forget I have piles of food, because I played 10 years as FFXI Summoner where the food was worthless for pet classes / mage classes.

Not gonna waste food when we already have echo buff. I save my food for second coil. If I have some junk food from retainer venture or whatever, I will eat that.
As an old tank in FFXI (Galka especially), it's so habitual to eat food in every group, haha. I can see where you're coming from at the opposite side.
My food can cost up to 5-7k per serving, I'm not wasting it on a DF group.
I don't see a point to using Food/Pots in any content with the Echo. That buff does a LOT more than food. Especially if you overgear the content by a lot (20+ ilv over requirement). I don't use food in Levi EX or Moogle EX either, since most groups are just bad and disband too fast, but also because you don't really need it there if you're gearing for Coil2. Sure, if you're just straight i90 (or less) and not BiS, by all means use food to give you a boost.
Occasionally, I will use food in T5 when tanking because even with the Echo Death Sentence HURTS (and I have a lot of Toast just sitting around)...however, since most people die to insta-kills (Twisters, Divebombs into walls) the HP boost isn't a good reason to use it, and if food is the difference between not enough DPS and enough DPS...there's bigger problems with the group than food use (especially if everyone is full i90 or better).
I use food every time I'm in Coil 2, spending time before raiding making sure I have enough for the full session. And I make sure to have X-Pots ready too (and need to buy more sharks soon).
Garuda EX doesnt need echo or food, even at ilvl 83 party lol.EAT YOUR DAMN FOOD.....lol
SE throws that stuff at you and yet all my parties last night, zero people were using food for buffs....and i'm not talking about duty's that are lv 10....I am talking about things like Garuda ex and coil runs..like not even the tank....XD after asking the party why I was the only one with food on...my answer was, "I am ilv 91 etc I don't need food" (after we wipe btw).....like seriously?anyway end rant.
p.s One thing I did notice and actually the main reason of my post is to suggest to SE that they show food active on members, not when I cycle over them. As of now it does not show like the regular buffs on my party window, only when I manually click on them. =(
Titan EX doesnt need Echo or food at ilvl86 party! (unless your doing a carry through in which case you do need food & potion/s & maybe a bit more ilvl but still not echo)
Same for most of coil as most people doing it are well above the ilvl you need, not SE's recommended lol ilvl so depending on your crit/acc/health ratio its not usually needed eaither ~ Unless your really unskilled & need your DPS carryied which i hope they are charging you for.
Food & food items are not cheap on my server nor is it a 5mins job to gather & craft. - Thats what your rant should be about! not the lack of skill & blaming "food"

I make HQ apkallu omlettes. I'm not burning one on a DF primal party unless i'm sure we are going to farm (and not say we're farming and then wipe over and over) or for some reason I'm not at the acc cap. (leviathan has a higher acc cap than the other primals)
yes the echo buff makes some things ridiculously easy.. and if your group of i90 folk can't clear Garuda ex, then food isn't going to make the difference.
HOWEVER, I don't think OP stated that you should be chowing down on your premium stuff you save for coil2. Eat a lower tiered, NQ food if it's not prohibitively expensive.
