tell me a story about Bodhum~

Hello,
Im new to the game and I cant decide on a server! I know its hard to tell which server is best, however this is not the question Im asking. There are 4 servers I consider joining and one of them is Bodhum. What Im asking in this thread is - what Bodhum is like?

- whats the population in bodhum? mostly US? EU? JP? Or a equal mix of all?
- are there any people in Gridania?
- could u get into a pick up group? or only statics?
- do people chat is 'shout' and 'say'?
- lastly how do u enjoy Bodhum? are people fun and helpful? Or would u rather change server if u could?

I'd like to mention that I tried to check all servers I consider joining on my own, however I didnt see much diffrence in a first glimpse, so I'd be gratefull if those of u who have got experience with Bodhum could answer above questions

1. Mostly US and EU.

2. Not really, people only go there for class marks.

3. This game is very anti-social but it's getting better. Right now pick up groups for experience parties are on the rise and the low end dungeon (pugs) as well.

4. Rarely do people talk in shout or say unless they are shouting for a (pug) group, selling something, or asking a question.

5. To be honest with you, there are many good players on Bodhum but the population is very low here. I'm sure I speak for a few that a server merge with another low population server would help give Eorzea more life. People are pretty helpful if you're not a veteran idiot. If you're new to the game then yes they will help you. Most of the time though, there's only like 3 sites that you need for this game. 1# lodestone/official forums. 2# ffxiv.yg.com for information about all items quests in game. 3# some gathering site. I'll have to double check to see what's the URL. This site shows where all the gathering nodes are etc. People like those who help themselves first.

Anyway what ever server you choose to go with, Good Luck!

1. The population in Bodhum is mostly NA/EU but there are japanese linkshells. I've heard the complaint of no major German linkshell (if that's important to you).

2. Gridania is where people who don't want to be found go.

3. Our server had been pretty divided based on linkshell for a while, but with people realizing that this game isn't 11 and some dedicated linkshells becoming more lax or disbanding all together, things are lightening up. The server has some nice people on it if you get the chance to play with them.

4. You can run into a /say conversation every so often, but Shout is almost always an advertisement. Lately it's been pick up groups for R45 dungeon.

5. Bodhum is a good server imo. I played on it since Beta and never wished I had played on a different server. As the post above me says, the population is a little low and a server merge could be helpful. However if the game got popular and we had a rise in population due to new players that would be best. The server is more enjoyable now then it ever has been and there's not a player I don't like. People are helpful as long as you don't go over board when asking. (Please try and figure it out for yourself first, and ask if necessary.)

If you want big populated server though, Bodhum isn't where you want to end up.

Since they've pretty much summed it up, I will simply answer number 5.

I already tried re-rolling and found that most of the servers suffer from the same people issues right now. As far as Gridania being the place to go if you don't want to be found, that is only because of the low population. Yes, most people are in Ul'dah but if there were more there would be more in places like Gridania. I think the best thing to do right now, is to search these forums and personally send a tell to the people you find that are trying to reach out, such as yourself. I've met a lot of people that are tired of playing solo this way.

I've actually decided not to play on Bodhum, mostly because Im looking for a rather busy, big populated server. I did have some nice moments here tho and community is rly nice I have to say

Ahh, Pancakes... wish I noticed this thread earlier! Played FFXI on Fenrir (Tarrs) and your name is very familiar, though it's possible there were lots of Pancakes on lots of servers. Wish you the best on whatever server you chose - farewell from the French Onion Brigade!!
