    I want to hear what you all think of holmgang.

    Only thing i would like for holmgang personally, is for it to heal somewhere between 10-50% of the damage taken during its duration.....if it needs a change at all. I'm not a master of numbers for this game, so I'll leave its usefulness up to the pros here. To be a slightly more clear, after the 6 seconds of selfbind/immortality it currently gives, we get a HoT effect (or a straight up heal) for a % of the total damage we took during the 6 seconds. Just my suggestion. We as warriors do NOT in ANY WAY need a buff, just a suggested change. Again......we REALLY REALLY don't need a buff, AT ALL. As with all classes QoL changes are nice, and while this would be a buff, it feels to me more like a QoL change to an ability that tries to do way too much and fails at all of it.

    ^ this. SE has this infatuation with twitch mechanics with a bad lag compensation problem.

    Holmgang is 6 seconds, but you don't actually get it till the end of the animation (OMG I've so tried). That means it's really 4 seconds...

    4 seconds...get some lag and that's like really 2 seconds to react...w.t.f.

    Holmgang is fine how it is.

    it's part of your job to monitor the amount of incoming damage you are taking and to predict heavy damage spikes and to react accordingly. Pay more attention or get a better connection if you think that it is the problem.

    but wait until you hit a holmgang and forgot twister was next, that's always a bitch

    I disagree. The required foresight makes the skill nearly unusable even using it for landslides or death sentences with its short duration, it is unreliable. You forget you have to have a healer cure you after you get to 1 HP or have split second timing with Thrill of Battle (which still leaves you at critical HP). Most of the time even a properly timed Holmgang still ends in death because if your healer still hasn't cured you after your 2 seconds of being 1 HP anything will kill you and even with Thrill of Battle popped right after, most boss attacks will still kill you. As a main healer with relatively quick reaction time healing I have seen Holmgang save a raid once. Once. That's impractical.

    Plus with such a long cooldown it makes the secondary effects of Holmgang a one time thing that has no practical use because you can only use it once per fight and you just can't make a strategy work around that. That's impractical

    Bahaha, that happened to me once, and I was like F..........then shot to the sky. lol!
    The only issue I have is that it binds the player as well...which means your'll definitely eat the next incoming AOE...

    I agree that Holmgang is very very situational. I use it more to keep a boss from moving than to survive an attack.
    If things go wrong and your healers struggle keeping everyone alive while your HP drop fast, chances are high that Holmgang just delays the inevitable outcome of a fight.
    If everything goes as planned Holmgang won't be required at all.

    A few seconds longer duration and maybe a buff to increase HP recovered by healing spells (like Convalescence or Mantra) would be nice.

    holmgang only helped me in binding giant in KB and sometimes binding sisters in garuda ex apart from that nowhere else... Unfortunately, bind is not applied on bosses (!) and my party got wiped in turn 1 when i thought it might work on Caduceus during split phase. After that i gave up on it completely.

    Holmgang is really situational and only confident tanks can use it properly. I am not saying its useless but its definitely unreliable.

    The biggest problem I have with holmgang is that as an invincibility move it does absolutely nothing to ease healing strain for it's duration. Some one awhile ago in a similar thread made the comment that it should save all heals applied to the tank for it's duration and then apply them all as it wears off, which seemed like a good idea to me.
