Luminary versus New Main Tool

Just curious... does this deter anyone else from getting their luminary now? The new main hand tools for DoH are better than Luminary with this new patch. My main is cook, and I'm currently 395 level 50 recepies away from getting my luminary. But... all I can do is glamour it. I don't know. I was hoping it would be stronger than the easy "craft 50 hq tomato relishes." (In my mind, they were easy. It only took me around a day or so, but I know cooks had it easier than other DoH).

Is anyone disappointed? Or am I just looking at this with bias eyes? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I thought about it when the new patch was out. My theory is SE didn't raise the luminary tools to match the new i70 tools because it would give some players a huge economic lead/advantage. The 1st HQ 3-star on my server appeared 24H after the patch and the guy control that market for 2 to 3 days. Image if the luminary tools give the same stats people would full stock the market within 2H.

I see Ding's point, but the hold up for me when it came to getting the new tools was accumulating the 45 "old philo mats" to make the 5 vanya silks, hard hippo leathers, etc. Not the 50 items needed for the new tool. Even luminary tool owners would be stuck in that same situation of there being a sudden lack of supply in philo mats.


Personally, I use my luminary tools as glamour items for the new artisan tools (which are all pretty ugly in my opinion). There is just something about wearing my tools on my back instead of at my side that makes it worth it.

But I still wish they would patch the game and upgrade the luminary tools. To be honest, the fact that there was no real difference between the quested tool (pre-patch) and the luminary was a bit of a disappointment. However, to be fair, how many of the achievement items are really worth it?

Crafter rings?
DoW/M rings?
Paragon's Gown/Crown?

It is all fluff. Sure, the gown is technically decent once you hit 50 for any DoW/M... but they are practically giving away i70-90 gear to trump all that.

Why should I have expected the luminary tool to be any different?

I didn't have a whole lot of interest in the Luminary tool even before the Artisan's tools became available. I had no plans to make any special effort to grind out the synths needed to obtain the tool; I figured I'd get it eventually just through normal crafting efforts. Now that it is clearly an inferior tool, I have even less reason to try for it.

I agree, though, that since Luminary tools are supposed to be something crafters strive for, SE should provide a method for upgrading them to be competitive with the Artisan's tools.

I'm ok with only being able to Glamour them. I was upset at first since i had just grinded out 2 of them (GSM/CUL), but eventually you get over it since u realize Luminary's are a cosmetic achievement. It still looks good. Many 3star crafters still dont have them as well. If you want to set yourself apart from the Sea of crafters this is pretty much the best way to do it.

The luminary tools're all supposed to be just for the sake of looks in the first place, an achievement. Now that ya can glamour 'em, there's no reason for them to scale up anymore.

With how plain the Artisan's tools are, they're practically screamin' "Hey, ya know ya want a golden version of this instead!"

Honestly, ever since they came out with the new tools you get at level 50 for completing your last class quest I haven't felt any overwhelming urge to go out of my way to get it. If I happen to get it just doing normal things then that's great. But otherwise, not a big deal to me.

ill get the over time and dump them in my chest,. unless they upgrade them in the future there just not worth the time anymore,. although I don't think they were worth the time anyways, I like getting rare things.!!
