    Alchemy and Armorsmithing required?

While I try to level up my weaver, goldsmithing (for desyn) and mining up, I took a look at the cross skills for alchemy and armorsmithing. Are they by any means required for successful 2/3 star crafts, or should I be able to get through without too much trouble?

I plan to pick up blacksmithing later for ingeunity, but I can't help but doubt if the cross-skills offered by alchemy and armorsmithing are worth picking up.

You won't do 3 stars without piece by piece.

Comfort Zone and Tricks of the Trade are helpful, but not essential.

With all you have to put in to maxing out your other crafts, getting 50 in those two is easy by comparison.

I guess piece by piece is one of the first abilities to use when you start a 3* craft?

And just incase I missed something; aside from GC supplying and leve allowances, are there other boosts to leveling up other craft/gathering trades?

You should get alchemy as long as you have quest leves to spare. The materials are usually extremely cheap, and the recipes required are really easy (don't require a lot of sub materials that you also have to craft). It was the easiest craft for me to level up by far.

The way I was planning, I was thinking
    >Level weaver first for Careful Synthesis II
    >Level GSM and Mining
    >Alchemy and Blacksmithing.

Unless alchemy's cross skills are incredibly useful to leveling up the other two crafts? I'm also running out of leve allowances and going to fall to the default 6/day.

Also, as far as gearing is concerned, would the grand company issued sets be enough to carry on when you get them at level 25? Though I am going to be swapping out the tools as I get to it.

Alchemy was somewhat expensive for me in that nearly all recipes require water shards which for some reason I didn't have much of compared to other types. Shards are expensive if you don't gather yourself, some more than others. I also didn't find the items crafted sold nearly as well or were as useful as other crafts. That being said, I find comfort zone very useful and that alone was worth leveling up alchemy.

Armor craft stuff sold very well while leveling up. I found it much more fun to level up making stuff that people will buy and use (as well as some profit from HQs).

I found that I had more than enough water shards by simply doing the class quests. But I leveled purely doing HQ quest leve turn ins, not by mass production of goods or by crafting goods to sell.

I would get everything to 15 first. It's pretty quick and all the materials are sold very cheaply at vendors next to the guild. This gives you a nice suite of abilities to use when you level any class.

You don't necessarily need the rest of Alchemy for leveling, but you'll want Comfort Zone if you plan on trying to HQ any 3* items. If that's your goal, you will want it eventually.

Levequests always seem like the way to go, the problem is the amount you have. I'm down to 21 leves and they get eaten up like nothing for crafting leves. Though since my Weaving is already 18, I think I'm gonna work on that first and get it up to 50.

I also thought about getting my other crafts up to at least level 10. If anything, that'll give them potential to do HQ turn ins.

Yea, that is a pain when you're leveling crafting and you don't have leves to spare. I would wait till I had 40-50 or so before starting a new craft, just concentrate on battle classes or whatever until I had the leves to spare. However, I was able to reach 15 on every craft by eating some cheap food, sitting next to the guild material vendor, and just making everything from my log. No leves required.

If you want to make 3 stars, you will have to get most crafts up to 50 for cross class skills. I would recommend getting all your crafts up to 15, then do GC supply for all of them every day. GC supplies are basically a free daily leve for each class, so that is like getting 8 extra leves per day. If you start on GC provisioning now, it will save you a lot of leves later and you will be ready for 3 star much sooner. Use your leves to focus one class up to 50.

As for lvl 15 cross class skills, the three essentials IMHO are:
    Careful Synth
    Tricks of the Trade
    Hasty Touch

Ingenuity and Rumination are nice to have, but are situational. Manipulation is very close to Master's Mend but at 4 less CP. Waste Not is more useful, but not essential. I hardly use Rapid Synth.

The only level 37 worth going for is Steady Hand 2 from Culinarian. 37 is nothing to sneeze at, but it is well worth the effort. Get your first craft to 50 before worrying about that.
